The manager makes the difference. The quality between a well run and poorly run store is outstanding.

Depends on really what I am looking for.....my local Lowe's has a lot more stuff than HD. If I am buying supplies, I go to Lowe's. If I am renting a tool or piece of power equipment, HD seems to be a lot better.

Living right outside of Baton Rouge, I have to go to Baton Rouge to go to either one. Normally I will go to the Lowe's on Siegen just because if I go there, there is something I could probably go to walmart for and since there is one across the street.

Sometimes, for no reason at all, I have gone to the Home Depot off of Airline.

Lowes uses cashiers, which means jobs for someone. HD tries to force everyone into using the self checkout.

I have both nearby, but I usually go to Lowes for this reason.

Covington Lowes set us up with doors and windows in seven weeks, not bad. But the reconditioned John Deere lawn tractor I got for $850 from the Denham Springs HD puts them ahead.

This. HD for major projects and repairs.

Lowes for pretty outdoor furniture and accent lighting.....

Both about a mile from my office. A couple of years ago I would have said Lowe's but I have to say Home Depot has been much better with customer service and seem to be more willing to help the customer. Lowes seems to have an edge in the garden department though.

The Lowe's near me has the worst customer service of any hardware store I've ever been to.

There are things I go to for each. Most things Home Depot, but Fixtures and tools always seem better at Lowes' IMO.

(I like Kobalt more than Husky and they have innovative tools like Crafstman has)

Lowe's has better flooring and plumbing fixtures.

So you're saying the store that started the DIY warehouse concept offering contractor prices to the public is designed for contractors and the store that was originally a contractor based store is designed for women and people who don't know what they're doing?

for small, misc shite I prefer Home Depot. For lumber and other big items, 84 Lumber is the place to go for me. They get you in and out pretty quick
