Lower back pain help!

I play a lot of golf and I'm getting to the point where I'm contemplating quitting. Are there any exercises, activities or lifts I can do for long term relief? I'm most likely done for the season but looking forward to things I can do to just help me out. I'm actually fairly young to feel this bad. Is seeing a chiropractor legit help or would I be wasting my time? ANY AND ALL help at this point is much appreciated. Needing some OT advice.

Focus on the hamstrings...the vast majority of low back pain comes from compensation for hamstrings. I know people who have had success with Chiropractors..but I personally would seek out a PT, first. Work on hamstring flexibility and the low back relief will follow.

Grab a broom. Lay on your stomach. Hold the broom as high as you can with your hands and lift your legs as high as you can too. Hold this move for about 45 seconds. It's basically a superman move with weight. It will help strengthen your lower back.
Yoga and pilates will help too.

Yoga. Start with some very gentle yoga. They have some good dvds for yoga and back care. I also would see a dr to see if it is something structural or muscular. A chiropractor would do that too. He would prescribe exercises or physical therapy if muscular. A lot of people have had good results with injections if the pain is intolerable and long standing.

After my compression fracture, I took it easy for two months, and then I started strengthening my lower back and legs.
What helped me the most, light dead lifts.
I wake up stiff, but being stiff for an hour trumps pain with every step or twist.

These helped my dad quite a bit. Didn't eliminate the pain entirely, but enables him to function normally.

A lot of men do not stretch or know how to do the right stretches. Pilates and Yoga can really help.

Does a lion stretch before it takes down a gazelle?

Lots of good advise here...
My only advise...... Stay away from the pain pills.

They gave my dad a Tramadol prescription but he never uses it because it makes him pee every 15 minutes.

i have suffered with lower back pain caused by degeneration between my L4 and L5 vertebrae. On top of that, i have herniated a disc a few times. It is the most painful thing i've ever experienced. I am only 30, but years of landscaping while in high school and college wreaked havoc on my back. I used to see a chiropractor regularly, but then a buddy of mine got one of the "Teeter Hang Ups" and let me try it. i used it for a month and had absolutely no pain in the mornings. I have played golf, built a deck, done tons of manual labor at my house, gone fishing, etc and zero issues with my back. I bought one myself about 5 months ago and use it 4 or 5 times a week for about about 5 minutes each time. It keeps you stretched out and keeps everything loose. I have a link to it here. LINK Good luck!

It depends on if it is a structural problem with you back or tightness in the muscles. Structural problem with a vertebrae and you need to see someone. Muscle tightness (more likely) stretching the hamstrings. I have the same problem so I set 4 alarms on my phone to remind me to stretch throughout the day. Just 10 second toe touches 4 times a day really helps

Go see a doctor. The OT are good people, but clearly you will get guesses on how to correct what's ailing you. Low back pain can be caused by a number of different issues and you'll want a clear diagnosis before you go off on your stretching, Pilates, chiropractor journey. None of those things would help nerve pain in that area. Better start with getting a look at the problem before the solution.
