What a better way to let people know you are low functioning than to buy/adopt/breed pit bull terriers.

I think you are preaching to the choir...but that's not what happened here:

quote:

Police said a preliminary investigation indicates the child was playing in the kitchen with her father nearby when the family's pit bull terrier attacked the child and bit her in the face, which caused major trauma.

My horse would be surprised to hear he has to work for a living. He’s a pet and I treat him as one. You always need to be cautious around a 1,200lb animal, but usually a horse is not going to “stomp” someone intentionally unless they feel threatened.

And I mean REALLY threatened and feeling trapped. Normal response is to flee.

I have 2 pits, I'm not trashy and they are the most lovable dogs ever.

Of course there's plenty of trashy people who have them and I hate it, bc they are some of the smartest dogs around. Mine have been around my nieces often and have never even attempted to get aggressive. They have actually snuggled with them and given them rides like the were horses.

Although, mine were raised fairly tough by me, as far as discipline, and they are both neutered (male and female), which I'm sure has something to do with it.

Does not compute.

I have a friend that got a pit and raised him as a puppy. He had another dog before it that they trained and it was well behaved. This one was a monster. There wasn't anything he could do about it. The one time it got loose, it tried to kill another dog whose owner took it out to piss.

I know it's hard for people to comprehend, especially with the herd mentality of the OT.

My dogs play nice with kids and other dogs. I can say I've had an aggressive one before, but it was just when defending his house. He passed away, but he never bit anyone or never went after kids or other animals. However, he wasn't neutered and as I said, he was a bit more aggressive. The 2 I have now are rescues, so they had to be neutered and people who meet them are actually shocked at how sweet they are because of how people view all pits.

I'm not trying to say pits don't have their problems, but most of the time it's the owners. And, sadly, it's usually trashy POS who own them.

The people I know who have them who are good people, their dogs turn out the same way.

Where is this evidence you speak of? There are many educated, wealthy people in Boulder with pitbulls and they seem to never make the news. I wonder if there is a correlation there

Louisiana could take a step towards common sense and ban this dog throughout the entire state.

almost every post in this thread equates anecdotes and instances with "evidence" or actual data

but but but my pit bull is a sweetheart

I’m sure that father said the same exact things right up until the moment his pit tried to rip his child’s face off.

No offense. But are you a fricking idiot? Stop with this horseshite about how you know this or that Pit that’s “kind, gentile, and never aggressive”. We have Story after story of Pits who are “kind, gentile, and never aggressive” right up until the moment they suddenly try rips a child’s face off for no reason.

It has nothing to do with if the owner is “trashy” or Bill fricking Gates. It’s the fricking breed and it needs to be wiped out.

He better show up to work on time today. The boss isn't gonna buy the old "My dog bit my daughter's face off, so I had to stab it to death" line.

I’ve never tried to rip the face off a child.

They probably are good. This guy pit bull was “good”. It also randomly for no reason tried to rip a 1 year old child’s face off and came within a whisker of killing it. Are you honestly so stupid you think your fricking pit could not at any moment do exactly the same as this guy’s pit?

It's really not that hard. Google "dog bites by breed" and you'll have lots of information that supports that pit bulls, by far, account for more bites than almost every other breed combined.

LINK

Some zany people try to say that "oh pitbull bite statistics are skewed because lots of dogs get mis-identified as pits." This is a load of crap. Even if it were true, that would mean that the majority of these bites and attacks had the dog grossly misidentified (identifying a lab, mastiff, bulldog, etc as a pit). Most people know a pit or a pit mix when they see one. The stats show that pits, or dogs that look like pits are overwhelmingly responsible for serious bites and fatalities, yet idiots want to ignore the facts. These same people probably shame climate change deniers and flat earth supporters, yet ignore all the facts and studies done on this topic, because they have anecdotal evidence or support some conspiracy against pits.

My pits would never. They'd try to lick the face off of someone though.

The OT is full of idiots who like throwing out blanket statements. Just like y'all do with New Orleans. "Don't go to New Orleans, you'll die." "Don't ever go around pits, you'll get bit."

Try to think for yourself sometimes man.

Again. That’s what that man though until he was having to stab his pit to death to keep it from killing his child.

Listen to yourself a moment. This isn’t some knee-jerk emotional overreacting based on anecdotal evidence. The stats don’t lie. Pit bulls attack on a regular basis. The breed is hyper aggressive and also prone to attacking without warning even when there is no history of aggression in the dog’s past. And when they attack the results are nothing short of devestating and oftentimes fatal.
