I hope. But the sad truth is there is a good chance he’s not. Thf dangers of Pits has been well known for years and yet there are still a lot of people out there who still for some odd reason unable to grasp that owning them is a terrible idea.

I always wonder how They’d react if one day they walked outside and discovered their neighbor had a pet lion?

i'm not even going to look at the link.
the people who believe pit bulls are to blame clearly never owned a dog or truly trained a do.

it is alway going to be the owners. dogs are trainable. that's why they're man's best friend. ugh. ignorant fricks.

It was a family dog that had been around people, including the child, for years and never once showed any aggressive nature. According to the story the attack was sudden and unprovoked.

ETA: from the story

quote:

Police said the family owned the dog for five years and said there is no known history of violence or aggression. "Not once have I ever seen the dog in any aggressive way. Even when my dog got loose once and ran over into his yard, the dog didn't attempt to start a fight or anything. He was really well behaved," neighbor Anne Mello said. The attack appears to have been unprovoked.

And yes, sometimes it is the dog.

I'm not trying to say pits don't have their problems, but most of the time it's the owners. And, sadly, it's usually trashy POS who own them.

The people I know who have them who are good people, their dogs turn out the same way.

You are so much in denial....do you not understand that the majority of these attacks are by "sweet lovable pits"???

Parents aren't going to publically blame themselves. So of course they say he was never aggressive.

Not defending the breed at all, just saying you can't take the parents words as gospel.

Lots of animals are trainable. Lots of dogs have different traits and instincts. Retrievers have instincts for, well, retrieving. Pits have instincts for...fighting and killing. You can train an animal all you want but instincts will sometimes take over and you are foolish if you think you can somehow absolutely prevent this. Sure, in more cases than not, people that have pits and have trained them well, there probably aren't these incidents. But they still happen, and I'm not dumb enough or have a big enough ego to risk putting my child or other people's children in danger in case my dog's instincts one day take over.

Like Darth's example, you can train a Lion too. Some people train chimps as well and keep them as pets, but we all know how those circumstances usually end up.

It was a neighbor saying the dog was not agressive.

They’re not cats and dogs, I’ll give you that. Yet some horses are above and beyond intelligent/sweet. You gotta give them consistent contact/riding, though.

if that's your shite argument, i'll play along. i adopted an aggressive breed dog. i don't let her have free reign, BECAUSE SHE'S A frickING DOG. i don't have 100% control over her at all times. i take precautions and trust her only so much BECAUSE SHE'S A frickING DOG.

i mean these people are morons.

No different than owning a wild leopard that was orphaned as a cub. Pitbulls should be categorized as wild animals.

The problem with Pitt bulls is that the can override training and lash out for no apparent reason.

Now, all animals can do this but Pitt bulls don't just maim, they kill. So your dauchsund who had a bad day might nip your hand too hard, a Pitt will kill you.

Put them around other dogs and the unpredictability is amplified. Evidently children also seem to bring out the primal urges in these beasts.

Millions get bit by dogs every year, the outcome will be much much worse with a Pitt bull
