Ribeye was just an example although EBT users should be relegated to sirloins.

Are they going to change the cards from fluorescent orange since obviously everyone can tell it's being used when people are buying their turduckens?

What will change are the different kinds of foods and types of foods that your SNAP benefits will pay for.
There's already restrictions on what it can be used for. The corruption comes from the shithole gas stations and corner stores charging the card $100 and paying the customer $20 cash, no product involved. Total fricking racket.
Its been going on since they were first introduced. My grandfather owned a bar in Atlanta in the early 60-s through the mid 70s and he bought food stamps for 10 - 20 cents on the dollar and had people lined up around the corner around the first of the month to sell theirs so they could by alcohol at his bar. I know 3 different people who owned rural convenience stores in Georgia and South Carolina and they did virtually the same thing....they would pay them 10 cents on the dollar and they would buy gas and cigarettes etc. I also know a man in Franklin Georgia who would take his families monthly allotment and buy pork butts the first of every month, smoke those butts and sell it by the pound. He turned about $100 a month of food subsidence, which would feed his family for about 2 weeks, into about $500, which would feed them for the entire month plus help with shoes and rent etc. He eventually went to jail. He was black. My grandfather and the 3 convenience store owners were not. What the BBQ man was doing was not technically illegal...he was buying groceries which were allowed. He sold them without a business license.....which is how they initially arrested him. He then plead guilty to food stamp fraud because he was offered 3 months to do so or face 5 years if he did not. I have seen cops in my grandfathers bar and in those convenience stores when those transactions were made....and no one ever said a word.

I feel badly for the BBQ guy. Seems like a smart and honorable way to use his allotment of food stamps.
As for your friends and relatives, they seem to have gotten some preferential treatment. Based on your story, you don’t approve of that. Have you reported them?

Yeah, this is unacceptable. That man was doing the best he could and quite honestly it sounds like he was doing more than some that even show up to work to be quite honest.

Get rid of the credit-card looking EBT cards and go back to actual stamps.
That would be a bad idea. The card makes it much easier to track what is purchased. In the stamp days a lot bartering went on using the stamps to pay for drugs (10 dollars worth of stamps for 5 dollars worth of crack or something like that)and then selling those stamps to people for 2/3s of the face value.

I think Only water is a bit much but otherwise it sounds like the new law is close to your idea.
The proposed changes to SNAP benefits would exclude the purchase of soft drinks, ice cream, and prepared desserts such as pies, cakes, cookies, and other similar products.

What about all varieties of Flamin’ Hot chips? That would be a back breaker for them.

Why are they able to buy boiled crawfish
Most places you can't. You can't typically buy hot foods. I think I know of only one actual seafood store that might serve boiled crawfish and accept EBT. They are asian ran and say something like it can't be hot, but that's just to get around it. Perhaps some grocery stores might get around it if it's already packaged and cold?

I’ve seen that “temporarily suspended” multiple times.

No Fudge Rounds? Damn....

That's interesting. I wasn't aware of any suspensions.
I think the idea of water only suggested around here is a bit extreme. I don't see an issue with Oat milk, Almond milk, regular milk, etc being acceptable here. These are often helpful for cooking or preparing various meals.

It’s an assumption. I recall two separate occasions a few years apart when a local convenience store had a sign on their door saying that EBT is accepted for boiled crawfish/deli. Each time it lasted for a few months. I think once was post-Katrina.

And bring back the ebt aisle… front and center.
It’s meant to hold people over… not fund their lifestyle

Also make a rule that you have to wear a "DEAD BEAT" shirt if you are a grown arse person who isn't old or "special"

Louisiana seafood on Coursey accepted ebt. Idk if they still do as I quit going there because of that. Their crawfish was delicious too.
And the lines are long as hell during crawfish season with card wielding individuals.
