I was talking to one of my nephews at Christmas. He was telling me he needed to kill some dog that kept running around his yard.
I told him nowadays you really cant do that. Its a felony. He was honestly shocked. I said "yeah, it wouldn't be a big deal even 20 years ago, but not now".
However I do agree its a big deal, esp something like this.

I’ll never understand why you get cruelty to animals for this when you can legally hunt and kill animals. Or legally shoot a cat or dog that’s suffering as a mercy killing. Or shoot strays.
Is it fricked up he killed her pet? Yes but 3 years in prison? Come on. Just fine him for destruction of personal property or something

You can't be serious. He hacked a household pet to death with a machete. Why would anyone even remotely try to defend this.
