Just pointing out that the idea that you need six weeks to plan events with a lot of people is nonsense.

People are tired of this lockdown and a large percentage of them are going to go buckwild when it's lifted. You are going to have mass gatherings very quickly if it opens fully.

Hell, it doesn't even need to be a planned event. Bars are going to be packed at first opportunity.

I bet it’s a large park. With games through the day. But let’s do some math.

If one team brings a total of 50 people (using a high number), you’re saying 40 teams in one day? 20 games??? Okay.

Even if that’s the case (it’s not), you aren’t talking about 2000 people there at once. And y’all aren’t locked in a building. There’s no security. Hardly any volunteers needed. No bands. Tickets to sell.

Love the anecdote though.

Honor code though. Honor code

JBE cannot tell untruths... Honor Code prevents him from doing so.

There are 12 fields and four time slots on Friday nights beginning at 5:30. So there are 48 games every Friday night in the span of 4-5 hours.

Where do you live in LA that has enough kids for 98 teams (over 1000 players) ? How many age groups? Jesus. Ive played baseball in the Baton Rouge and Nola areas half my life. My son is in little league at PARDS. Those numbers are insane and not realistic. Especially not now when even in my area, people don’t want to start up sports yet and the league sizes are about half of what they would be.

Have you really never been to Traction?

It's crazy. My kids are young so we only do baseball in the Spring but my friends have kids that do baseball in the spring, flag football in the fall, and baseball camps all summer.

Friday is their biggest night but they have a bunch of different leagues on different nights.

I’m wondering if this was just a cop out by JBE to take the easy road. The state opens back up and if anything bad happens it isn’t on him because he locked it down for another 2 weeks. Now if it goes the other way, and the cases don’t spike, he will come out looking like an idiot.
Hopefully our politicians grow some balls and do what is right.

Driven by it. It wasn’t traction back when I played. I knew it was big but 100 teams ..

Checked the site. 3-7 year olds are Friday night. 30 games over 3 times. Way closer to 1000 people than 2000. Only about 5-600 there at one time. Huge park. Something that was already scheduled and simply delayed. So you aren’t exactly putting this together from scratch.

Context is important. Going back to the original point. This is slightly different than planning a festival and thousands of people being crowded together.

Sounds like Lafourche is on the Lafayette plan.

A reporter asked JBE today if parish leaders are allowed to do this (loosen restrictions) and he said no. They’re allowed to tighten them, i.e. Latoya C., but they cannot loosen them.

What was loosened? I've seen nothing that any of these parishes are doing that could be construed as "loosening".

And prescheduled.

Antonio tried to counter my argument about a huge music festival being scheduled taking longer than 6 weeks to happen with a prescheduled tee ball Friday night with 10 teams playing across 12 fields. Which is maybe 500 people there at once on a good night.

Did anyone ask him about the possible petition to revoke his EO?

By the time that happens the two weeks will be up and it will be a moot point. They aren't even in session right now.

It’s a petition. They don’t have to be in session. It’s not a vote.

They don't have to vote, it's not legislation, it's a petition.
