I'm getting the impression that they have caved for now, but will have their ducks lined up if he tries to extend it again.
Which sucks!

I agree. If they were really pushing this, they would be trying to get as much media coverage as possible daily.

In the works for May 8th. Will steal the thunder from Dumbell Edwards announcement on the 11th. By then, they will have plenty of data from surrounding states, on any spikes due to re-opening.

I always wonder if people who post stuff like this really think it is an actual coherent argument. It reads like something a petulant 12 year old would come up with.

So I guess OUR Legislators are just going to give up on this?

What a bunch of spineless hacks.

All for a show I guess.

It's time to get Louisiana families back to work. I'm very frustrated that Gov. Edwards has made the unilateral decision to keep the entire state shut down versus a regional approach. As the executive, that power lies in his hands, not the legislature.

We're looking into every possible option to force his hand. One of those options was overriding his executive emergency declaration, but there could be very serious unintended consequences to doing that. Some of the unintended consequences would be losing our state federal match (which could be hundreds of millions of dollars), businesses losing the ability to get Payroll Protection Loans to help keep their businesses open, and not qualifying for FEMA aid with things like continued testing.

We're going back into session on Monday, May 4 and will be focused on continuing to push the governor to open up and being ready to help businesses and families as soon as he does. We are leaving all options on the table in case the governor decides to extend the stay at home order any longer.

So they are throwing their hands up because JBE threatened the state again. They aren't going to do anything.

It's left up to the citizens and businesses to make the decision.
