Louisiana isn't that bad.

Louisiana has to be the most self-loathing state in the US, but honestly Louisiana is cool.
Don't get me wrong, it's shitty. Lot of poverty, dilapidated buildings and roads, poorly educated populace. Economy leaves a lot to be desired. By most objective measures, it's a shithole.
But on the whole it has that certain unique quality to it that you can't get anywhere else. That Louisiana feeling is an intangible. You can't buy that. It's authentic. You can't find that in cookie cutter USA.

Glad I got the hell out many years ago. I still love to come home for a few days here and there. It is definitely unique.

Louisiana leaves a lot to be desired.
That being said, quality of life is largely dependent on individual circumstances. It is very subjective. Some people want nothing more than to live close to family, others prefer to live in big cities, some want physical beauty or mild weather.
It's not a one size fits all world.

I live here and I’m completely fine with it. It’s not the state so much as it is the damn corrupt politics. If we could somehow clean house and start over this state could be way better off.

That might be true but, anyplace is what you make it. You can either make a Place work or you can be miserable and constantly complain about how bad it is like most of the OT does.

I agree. There are definitely parts that are cool and unique, people just get so caught up in self loathing and these silly internet rankings they form negative opinions.

If you leave the OT there are plenty of people in LA that don’t hate it.

My family and I have made a good living here. It's been nice raising my daughter around my parents and other family. She had great grandparents still alive until she was 9 or 10.

I had an incredible time growing up there, but I guess that type of society doesn't exist anymore. Small towns, rural, farms...
