Louisiana insurance rates

The new insurance commissioner talking about the insurance rates in Louisiana and now they are sky high. Auto insurance in my opinion is the absolute worst, And it’s clear why.
Currently I’m being sued well my insurance is. Because I was at a red light in on Jefferson and lobdell, at a dead stop, and my foot slipped off the brake pedal, and I immediately slammed on the brake when it happened. Well I didn’t even realize it but apparently I tapped the back of this yellow 2012 Camaro V6 and the girl in there was like can we pull in the parking lot of goodwood hardware and check I said sure. We get out, not a scratch, or a spec of dust on her car or My truck. She insist calling the cops out for a report, ok no problem what so ever. Suddenly her mom and uncle show up, he starts pushing the bumper facial of the car and I’m like wtf, cop comes out and takes both of our statement to make his report tells both of us, not even sure why I’m out here. A few weeks later I get a call from State Farm apparently this girl is suing for being hurt, missing work, pain and suffering. Wants $30k. My insurance even got the body cam footage and he was like “yeah I can clearly hear when the cop said I don’t even know why I am here for this” … this right here is why insurance rates are through the roof. Stop allowing people to sue for bs like this

Did you get pics or video of them doing this? If so, easy case on them for insurance fraud.

Yes I got pictures of her car and mine, videos of her uncle pushing the bumper and videos of the cop looking at it etc etc I submitted it all to my insurance
The guy claimed they not going to get what they asking for and probably just going to take a settlement

Had a similar thing happen to us a few years ago. My wife tapped some toothless baw in a F250 at like 2 mph with a Honda Accord at one of those red lights on the interstate on ramps. Dude got like 20k. It did $0 in damage to either vehicle

This here is why the rates are so damn high. They should not only get zero, they should have to pay legal fees for filing a frivolous lawsuit. The intent was never to get the full $30K. The intent was to get a settlement.
Until we stop incentivizing these frick heads who do this, we’re going to stay fricked when it comes to rates.

Yup exactly. My insurance rep was like “if it was up to me I would fight this, but State Farm is just going to settle for $5000-$10000 most likely just to close the case.
But now my insurances rates go up granted because my record has been so clean for 10+ years it only raised $22 a month but still. It’s clear as day she is lying. So why settle State Farm got the resources to fight it. But my insurance rep said even if they fight it in Louisiana a lot of these judges will still award money to the person who is suing so they feel it’s cheaper just to toss a settlement out there and end it

Poors use it as a lotto ticket and the ambulance chasers profit from it. They have a lot of influence over the state government (if they aren't actually running it).

Booziebadass will be in shortly to defend injury attorneys. Imagine the amount of BS litigation that would be cut down if freeloaders actually had to pay attorneys a fee for representation instead of working on contingency

There is nothing you or your insurance company can do. The Judges are bankrolled by the Plaintiff Attorneys. The Chiropractors are bankrolled by the Plaintiffs Attorneys. Your insurance company can’t take a chance on denying the claim & going to Trial or they will most likely get hit with a huge verdict. That is why they settle. It is a vicious cycle that I don’t know how to fix based on the current state of the politicians & the electorate in the state. Stop voting for leftists & Rhinos.

That's not bad. What's bad is when you get rear ended sitting at a red light and your insurance company doesn't even pursue the other party and just sends you a "We tried, you're welcome to try on your own dime" letter. Louisiana FTL.
