What the hell is "Freezing fog"? Ice suspended in the air at ground level? Jesus.

Is turning off the water and draining the pipes gonna be the safest bet? Pier and beam house.

Fog is moisture particles and basically it freezes to anything it comes in contact with. We had some earlier this winter. It's kind of cool. Kinda looks like a light dusting of snow on everything.

I remember. We were out of school for over a week due to the sleet.

Most schools in South Louisiana are already off of school all next week for Mardi Gras

Basically. Frost is formed from water vapor. Freezing fog is from water droplets.

There's also ice fog, but it only happens in super cold regions. Where the water droplets freeze in the air.

How does it not snow if it is 15 and raining?

Warmer midlevels that melt the snow from the upper levels then it hits the extremely cold low levels and refreezes

I would assume the best bet is leave the water trickling so it's always moving and doesn't have time to freeze.

Any model coming to fruition except the euro will be devastating.

I think the euro is having trouble with the shallow cold air and is going with the mid level temps. It’s too much of an outlier imo

What about if you’re out of town? Turn the water off and open the faucets?

And drain as much as you can. Drain the water heaters. Unscrew the flexible hoses under your sink and let the water drain as much as you can. Basically, open every low point that you can to get as much water out of the system. Just opening the faucets MIGHT be enough but the more water you can get out of the system the better, if you will be away.
