What is going on in the atmosphere for us to still freezing rain on the surface? We’ve been below freezing for days.

My electricity has been off since 6:45 yesterday and they told us, it won’t be on before tomorrow evening late at the earliest. Not good.

Below freezing by the ground. Above freezing at 500ish meters.

Same place it's always been. Unless you're talking about in relation to the rest of the galaxy. It's moving pretty fast. But no worries; we are keeping up with it.

Full sun in Houston, warmed from 12 at 7am to 25 now, gutters flowing nicely, roof in full meltoff mode. About 55 in the house. Generator running.

I will say this morning was the first time I've ever seen river/lake effect snow in my area. We got a dusting and we still have a few flurries. 17° with 5-10mph wind. Didn't lose power yesterday. The temp warmed above freezing and melted what ice accumulated. Then, dropped below freezing and we had a good bit of freezing rain that accumulated. But, about a couple hours before dark, it warmed a bit again and melted some. Everything froze, though, after dark. Being right on the freezing line helped alot. Some people did lose power, especially to our west.
