Question - I have a pier and beam house and am worried about frozen pipes. If I shut off my water main at the street and then drain all my water lines inside and outside, will that prevent frozen/busted pipes? Is there enough residual water left in the pipes to still cause an issue?

Idk forsure personally, but a friend was telling me yesterday there were some small bridges closed on 84 around Jonesville for ice, thats about 30 minutes west of Natchez. Do with that what you will.

Spock. Drain your pipes at the lowest elevation. Ice will take the path of least resistance. Also if you have an electric water heater cut the breaker off. It only takes a second if the water isn’t on the top element to burn it up.

He should save all that salt for the roads.

FWIW, I'm currently driving from Shreveport to Baton Rouge. No major issues thus far, except the entire elevated stretch of 49 through Alexandria is closed. Detour to LA 1, then 71, and back on 49. About 15 mins from 190 in Opelousas right now.

Hope you have some potato salad to go with that. Shrimp stew is my favorite and I always put a few hard boiled eggs in there

which I would then assume means the Pineville Expressway over the Red River is closed too

which would mean my only way to work is the lift bridge on Jackson St. which... no... not going over that in a freeze
