Who’s going to LA’s newest outdoor ice skating rink in Houma on Monday?
That is some serious ice for that area.
Sheriff Tim’s going to have to pull out his Mr. Plows.
Reminder if there is ice on the roads the first places closed will be the major high level over passes. The Houma twin spans, Dularge Overpass, and Prospect Overpass will be closed as soon as it starts showing ice. The Houma Tunnel may be your only option to get across town. US 90 will likely close too at some point for its many bridges. I remember 2017, it was a gigantic mess.
Luckily, Monday is a federal holiday and Tuesday is Mardi Gras a state and local holiday. Banks and the post office are closed on Monday. Some governments like Lafourche parish combined the two days and are closed for both holidays.
Happy skating Houma drivers.
Also with temperatures expected to dip into the teens. Water pressure will become an issue as people run their water or experience water leaks.

You should have seen 1984 when we had freezing rain and sleet. I parked at Hollywood Road and Park and watched the folks slide through the intersection. It was like a Demolition Derby.
Coonass’es don’t know how to drive on ice.

White = Winter Storm Warning
Purple = Wonter Weather Advisory
Looks like we’re headed to a “category” 2/3 ice storm, baws. Today’s the day to make your preparations for power outages.

I’ve always wanted to make one of those icicle trees. Think I’m going to pump water tomorrow on a big willow tree tomorrow night. Or maybe my neighbors truck.

You realize Mother Nature is about to do that for you, right?

The 12z SPC HREF supports widespread 0.1 - 0.3" of ice accretion across South Louisiana. It shows a very sharp gradient between BR & NO with no ice for NO. In most areas, the Winter Storm Warning criteria for freezing rain is 0.25".
The 00z bumped things up a bit and is probably why NWS forecast offices finally folded and hoisted Warnings for S. Louisiana. Hopefully, y'all either bust warmer or snowier than what models are showing.

Jay Grymes must be fuming and just sitting at the station in a corner with his arms crossed. Steve Caparotta tries saying “You know, Jay, no meteorologist is perfect” but before he can finish Jay throws a rolled up sleeve at him and tells him to go frick off. Steve just walks away, grinning, and yells out to his coworkers “y’all were right, he did exactly what y’all said he would!!!”.

Snow already on the ground here in DFW before the main band. This gonna get interesting

How bad will flights be at dfw today?
Posted on 2/14/21 at 6:44 am to Bigfishchoupique
Bra people up north dont know how to drive on ice. They treat the roads. When I lived in PA they ran out of salt one Easter and we had a huge storm. Plenty of wrecks to see
Posted on 2/14/21 at 6:47 am to Tigerholic
Not sure how to answer that but there’s been a band moving SW to NE that has been dumping snow at DFW flights might be significantly delayed. That’s also if you can make it there

Really naive question
Will it be safe or even possible to Drive on the interstate between Slidell and pass Christian monday?

I would take the back route on 90. I do that 60% of the time anyway on my way to waveland to visit grandma. It only adds 10 minutes. Prolly 20 for you

I'm planning on going to Waveland tomorrow morning around this time from New Orleans and will be taking 90

You still gotta cross the lake though. Be careful baw. That means 50 mph in the middle lane. Hazards lights optional
