Holy shite dude.

It says sales tax.

Okay I see you linked something on the other page.

Yours includes the corporate tax rate and unemployment insurance.

You are still a dumbfrick.

That’s just sales tax. The numbers change every year, but we are usually ranked between 35th and 45th as far as total tax burden. Hell, we haven’t raised the gas tax since 1979 or something like that.

We have a small, relatively poor population. With lower taxes, that means we don’t get things like nice roads or average teacher pay, but our cost of living is very low.

Don’t we have a larger state government than GA, despite 1/4th of the population?

You said the title is misleading, not only is that just patently false because the thread title is a statement of fact, but I responded to Louisiana doesn’t actually have high taxes. Again, verifiably bullshite. You don’t get to pick and choose which taxes count to try to make your argument. ALL taxes flow down. If I own a C corp in Louisiana, I pay high taxes on my inputs (sales tax), high taxes on my business income (corporate income taxes) and middle of the road taxes on my personal income that flows through to that. And I still have to pay property tax.

Learn to read your own fricking link dipshit.

quote:

The Louisiana legislature eliminated the state’s throwout rule, which taxes “nowhere income” in the state from which sales are made because the seller lacks sufficient nexus to be taxed in the destination state, leading to taxation in the wrong state at the wrong rate. This change improved the state’s corporate component ranking by two places, from 31st to 29th.

Even your own fricking link said changes to our taxes improved the corporate ranking.

29 in corporate tax and 31 in individual income tax

These rankings also fail to account for local stuff. LA pays for what a lot of local cities pay for in other places. And yet... although locals don't collect a lot of local taxes, we still have an asinine local sales tax collection system.

LA could do much better... but OP is dramatically misstating things.

Georgia has 40 million people???

Also... GA puts a lot on local government. I bet if you added up all the local and state government employees in both states... adjusted for population, it's likely pretty close.

You’re spot on. Downvotes just prove the point “they hates him because he told them the truth”.

Honest question, how does a sales tax prevent/hinder business? I’ve always viewed it as a tax on consumers, not producers or venders

So you are including taxes few people pay vs the ones everyone pays.

I dont pay some of the ones you do. So no, my tax burden isn't close to a NY resident's.

It's much closer to a Texas resident.
