None of that matters, you know? The progression of the virus has followed the same path in areas across the globe regardless of containment efforts. It is all about making folks feel better.

Both of you are spouting misleading information.

The truth is somewhere in the middle. The virus will make its way theough a population over time, but mitigation efforts do matter and effect the virus’ overall impact on a community.

All that really has any true “community” impact is quarantining the elderly. Literally, that’s all we needed to do to keep the numbers low enough to protect hospitals and to keep those people alive as long as possible. Everyone and everything else should have remained status quo and we would have been done with this in May for the majority of the population without any impact to jobs, the economy, schools, or sports.

I'm so done with the Rona. I don't even care if I get it at this point.

Nah. Recent studies prove otherwise:

Lockdowns and Mask Mandates Do Not Lead to Reduced COVID Transmission Rates or Deaths, New Study Suggests

You realize 90% of transmissions occur in the home right?

Are you wearing your mask at home?

I guess everyone in New Zealand was wearing a mask in their home. And I live by myself. My apologies, I keep forgetting that everyone in this area is a contagious disease expert. How do you explain the drop in cases since the mask mandate started if 90 percent of transmissions occur in the home?

How do you square the drop in cases that started before the mask mandates went into place?

Or, the fact that California, which had one of the earliest and strictest mask mandates, had to start shutting shite down again?

Or, that Hawaii, which by all standards has the strictest mask mandate and possibly the strictest travel ban, recently started seeing an explosion of cases?

Because we already passed the peak

If you assess our graph compared to other waves, it's likely that we had already peaked prior to the mask mandate. Mask mandate might have aided in a more rapid decline though.

Cases typically lag a week or two behind new mitigation measures whether it be stay at home orders, bar closures, or mask mandates. You'll see we hit our peak right around the date of the mask mandate on July 13th. If it were only the mask mandate causes the decline, we probably wouldn't have seen the effects until the beginning of August.

I may be stupid so please explain this to me. The "peak" that most of you are talking about is at a time when a very low percentage of the population has had this extremely contagious virus. You're saying that no outlying factors that were implemented had anything to do with helping in the decline of infections. This "magical" peak is what is causing the number of infections to go down despite the fact that an extremely large percentage of the people here are still susceptible.

Cases and hospitization seems very manageable despite colleges and private schools having started for almost a month.

He pretty much just explained it to you. Unfortunately people like you are driving our government to destroy businesses so that you can feel better. Results from places around the world show the virus will progress through the population despite whatever measures the government tries to force on the population. You should stay home if you’re scared.

I don't know what made up world you live in but no one wants to see business destroyed and I got laid off because of this virus and I'm going to have to sell my home and move out of state just to find another job. I also hate wearing a mask as much as anyone. The majority of you are nothing but political retards.

Your argument falls apart when you look at this same trend happening damn near everywhere across the country, with the exception of those states that are just now seeing their "first wave".

This disease can either be spread by inhaling it near someone who is coughing/sneezing/or exhaling it very close to you or by you picking it up somewhere with your hands or another body part and you somehow ingesting it yourself. If you can't figure out that keeping space between people and wearing masks wouldn't help with this then you're either extremely ignorant or maybe, just maybe you're listening to what your idiot leader is telling you to do and you're taking zinc and that hydroq whatever drug or whatever that is. Why do you think the United States has by far the highest infection rate? Because about 40 percent of the population worship and clown arse conman rather than believe in science and common sense.

Why are you making this political while at the same time screaming for others not to make this political?

And why can you not accept science that doesn't fit your view of this pandemic?

That is true. That is exactly what the CDC and the good doctor Fauci told us initially. They had everyone wearing gloves, buying Clorox wipes by the thousands, and wiping down every surface in their house and anything they brought into their house. Later, the same people told us that Covid doesn't spread on surfaces nearly as easily as they once thought, and surface transmission isn't a major form of spread.

The good doctor Fauci and the CDC also told us that masks were useless against Covid. That was after Fauci told us the US had nothing to worry about in regards to Covid, and that we shouldn't alter our way of life in any way.
