Since JBE is going to scream that R2 is not declining so we need to extend the lockdown, this is the chart I made after the story about the St. Gabriel Correction facility came out. I made the assumption that all the test came back on May 1 when we had 192 positives, which is the 3rd highest to date.

I’m starting to think these people are stupid or just plain incompetent.
Can they follow up on these jail tests? How many developed symptoms? Then antibody test them and see how many develop antibodies. It seems like they are slow playing all this data and only want time data that shows we need to stay locked down.
The fact that we haven’t heard any follow up of cases like these really frustrates me.

Iberville parish does. Out of our 400-500 cases roughly half of them are in prison or a nursing home.

Were any restrictions lightened, or people just finally at their wits end? I saw quite a few stores in Juban Crossing open today that had been closed.

Open as in letting people in or open as in doing curbside pick up?
It wouldn't surprise me either that when JBE tried to crawfish the other day and said that some businesses didn't have to close that these stores decided to roll the dice.

Other region 2 prisons-
Angola- 140 cases
Dixon- 90 cases
Hunt- 190 cases
600 of region 2's cases are in state prisons.
I subtracted the census tracts from the parish totals.
About 200 cases in the ICE detention centers around Alexandria.

I’m not suggesting COVID-19 is neither serious nor real. However, I think the following numbers add some perspective to where we currently are in Louisiana.
As of May 8, 2020, ldh.la.gov lists 30,855 cases reported. Likewise, it lists 20,316 as presumptively recovered and 2,154 as unfortunately having passed away. Combined, these represent 8,385 active cases. As a point of comparison, it is estimated that approximately 11,000 people in Louisiana have full blown AIDS. The American Cancer Society estimates over 21,000 “new” cancer diagnosis in Louisiana for 2020.
Now, Considering Louisiana’s population of approximately 4.5 million people, this equates to approximately 1 in 563 people having a current positive diagnosis.
Did you know the odds of a baby being born with 11 fingers or toes is about 1 in 500? The odds of dying from a food bourne illness is also around 1 in 500. Not things we really worry about.
Another positive point is that statistically, the severity of the number of active cases is improving. Again, per the state numbers, of the active cases, we currently have 1,359 persons hospitalized. This is the lowest number since March 31. The current number of people on ventilators is down to 185 - - the lowest number since March 24.
Remember, Louisiana was ahead of the country on this because New Orleans was a MAJOR hot spot.... and even with the above numbers, Orleans and Jefferson parish account for over 45% of all cases.

A lot of places could’ve been open the entire time but JBE just started to talk about them when he did the extention.
