Second lowest % of tests positive recorded since this entire thing began

They are scraping the barrel to test and find people positive

It's because people sat in restaurants this weekend.

This is an idiotic way to look at this

compare it to last tuesday.

Yeah, but the weekend before last Tuesday people weren't sitting in restaurants.

This seems a little too good to be true.

I'm thinking there might be an inherant "immunity" in some people.

Maybe we are much farther towards herd immunity than we thought.

Regardless, this is all great data.

Open TF up.

35,038 active cases
2,458 deaths
26,249 (recovered as of 5/16)

6,331 Active cases based on data provided. Enter assumptions

Recovered data is 3 days old. 14 days from 5/16 is 5/02. New cases: 5/02 - 5/04 = 962

5,369 Active cases
1,004 in Hospitals
4,365 Conservative estimate of cases not in hospitals

Obligatory: The 14 day guidelines are given by ldh and based on when the patient tests positive. The information that we have readily available is when the positive test result is known, not when the test was administered. In addition, the date of the onset of symptoms does not matter either.

If you add the new cases from 5/06 through 5/19 (14 days), you get 5,033 cases. 7,741 cases from 4/29 through 5/19 (21 days).

What are the chances we get under 1k in hospitals and under 100 on vents by the end of the week?

Sarcasm aside... I would bet heavily on it.

There are at least three papers looking at this, one has already passed peer review.

There is also a paper, still in pre-print I believe, that looks at variance in susceptibility and a lowered herd immunity threshold.

Saw this on poli board....Is this the # that JBE was referring to when he said we need to get the rate of infection under 1?

rt.live link

As of today, LA is at 0.79 and is the 7th lowest State. Only Min & Wy are above 1.0...1.1 & 1.02, respectively.
