New Orleans went from 495 deaths to 494.

Son of a bitch, there is a damn zombie walking around now.

Jefferson Parish as well

More importantly, are they still active cases that could make them super spreaders?

Active cases:

Louisiana= 6,226

It was 0.78 earlier today. I think they update it once a week, but it's certainly not daily.

That small bump is probably because of those 1400 backlog tests that dropped last week.

Finally, something nice to rank near the bottom on.

How is this possible? Our flare-ups were pretty similar, daily adds are on par, but LA has had nearly 30k cases resolve, yet during the entire time, GA only has ~2k resolved cases?

Maybe they aren't clearing the cases unless they test negative.

Louisiana is doing a time based and not test result to clear patients.

That would make sense. Especially since early on, getting tested was a damn exercise in persistence. I guess GA decided to just not update, because there's no way that can be accurate.

They are scraping the barrel to test and find people positive

Yep. We went from “you can only get a test if you are hospitalized” to...

They are actively out sampling asymptomatic people and contacts looking for every possible case

That’s a big difference and if the criteria would have been that way from the beginning you would have seen a much steeper decline than is shown on these current graphs

This seems a little too good to be true.

The fact is that the shutdown and public education campaign had a tremendous impact. We’ve played this very well and things have gotten better to the point that we seem to have a handle on this. The threat hasn’t disappeared but we have figured out how to manage it.

What are the chances we get under 1k in hospitals and under 100 on vents by the end of the week?

The initial data on vent usage was released on March 23rd with 94 people on ventilators.

We’re about to drop below that number also. That’s a huge milestone.

Hospitalizations is the first real marker if you are going to see an uptick.

The case number is just a result of increased testing, but a hospitalization is a clear definitive classification.

As long as hospitalizations keep going down we are trending in the right direction.
