The biggest issue is the unknown health consequences even if you survive. Every day we slow the spread and give medicine more time to look at effects, treatments, & cures, is another day of exponentially more knowledge than what we had the day before. It took some time for medical professionals to stop putting patients on vents asap and actually do everything to keep people off vents.
I'm not in the shut down crowd, but we also have to think through the logical consequences of decisions. Working from home is way less efficient for my job. I know with the office closed, our utilization and productivity are lower. But if someone shows up pre-symptomatic or asymptomatic at the office, the whole company will be shut down for two weeks. I know many businesses are going back to full speed on Monday making everyone come back to work, but I don't know that is the wisest move considering that it could cripple operations for 2 weeks-4 weeks vs. having 1 or 3 people be out sick that time at home.
We need a balanced approach getting back to some level of normal, but also need to accept for the time being that things can't be the same way they were 2/15/20.

I’m an “open it up” proponent, but the lasting affects of the illness are concerning IMO.

Same could be said for survivors of car wrecks they could be left paralyzed or someone who beats cancer but loses hearing due to treatment
You are taking a chance at dying with every breath you take
We are all going to die, some earlier than others, some sudden, some after lengthy illnesses but in the end we will all die

If my wife was in the medical field I'd be a lot more cautious too.
My SIL is so I understand her being more cautious as well, but the silliness of that statement struck me

Dammit. Ouachita Parish added 40 cases supposedly. Looks like a lot of tests added, but I haven’t been keeping up with tests in the Parish since they withheld numbers from us a couple weeks ago.

Apparently LDH re-allocated a large number of cases had been assigned to the wrong parish. Jeff Asher @crimeanalytics is a good twitter follow for this.
