Admitting the numbers are due to backlogs brings into serious question why we use new cases as the basis of whether we stay closed or not as opposed to real time numbers like hospitalizations and ventilator patients.

Roughly 0.05% of people in the stage of Louisiana has died from covid
Statistically speaking it will be very hard to personally know someone who dies from it
For reference, there is a 0.03% chance of getting struck by lighting in your life

One friend of mine has a relative who has died. I don't know if the relative is a LA resident or not. This friend is absolutely in the shut it all down, everyone wear masks all the time camp.
I know a handful of people that have confirmed positive cases, none in LA, but don't personally know anyone that has died.

Well yeah, using cases is an awful way to make decisions
