My daughter and I are both positive. She found out today, I haven’t gotten my results yet but it’s going to be positive. We have mild fever, headaches, body ache and a cough. We don’t feel deathly just under the weather. I’m 38 and she is 17. The nurse told us today that it seems this tome around it’s younger and most have a mild case.

No, there isn't. There's more testing because they are now readily available and it was a requirement to increase testing to advance from phase to phase. Your statement is false.

Yes they are. There are more people being tested without symptoms than with symptoms. Your statement is false.

Of course someone with symptoms should go get tested. Your statement is like saying water is wet.

My guess is the uptick in cases will be somewhat disproportionate to the uptick in what really matters which is hospitalizations and vents, b/c it seems the younger folks are the ones spreading it so rapidly.
But there hasn’t been an uptick. The overall number of positive cases reported has stayed virtually the same since mid April.

So you’re saying that when JBE told us we needed to get up to 200k tests per month back in May, he was really saying “we need an uptick”?
April: 122,475 tests, 22,287 cases (18.2% positive)
May: 219,119 tests, 11,630 cases (5.3% positive)
June: 248,269 tests, 11,254 cases (4.5% positive)
We are on track for 323,829 tests in June. If you think a testing increase of 50% for the second consecutive month is due to more people reporting symptoms (despite a decline in % positive tests combined with the fact that it’s not flu season) then you’re the one with your head in the sand. Yes - there is probably a slight uptick due to more social interaction. But the increased testing is what’s really driving the number of cases.

Yes they are.
I know over 30 people that went got tested that weren’t showing any symptoms just because their kids went to LSU
I know that at least over a couple hundred young kids going to camp next week got tested just this week in the nola and BR area.

Hospitalizations and ventilator numbers way down
Where is the number for active cases?
Posted on 6/24/20 at 5:50 am to SlidellCajun
Our state apparently can not handle back dating years to their actual date of occurrence, much less back dating them to onset of symptoms.

The most important numbers on the chart are hospitalizations, ventilators and new cases.
There is a ratio of hospitalizations to active cases which is very important but you cannot ascertain that from the chart. If that ratio gets out of whack, we have a problem. By the number of hospitalizations, I can safely assume that it’s not out of whack. Back in early to mid April it looked pretty bad. We’re nowhere near that now.

I agree. We are right around 30% of where we were a the height of this thing and that’s with two of our most populous regions getting the initial wave. We are nowhere near overrunning our hospitals, which is the only reason for restriction of activities by the government.
We should be opened up further.

They absolutely are, we tested every employee that wanted it for free last week

This is true. I know of a business that had a student worker that was exposed at a local bar. He never showed symptoms but both office locations tested every employee.

The amount of shite people just make up on this board is pretty impressive.

That's going to "get out of whack" with the demographics of all these new cases they are finding. Most of the new cases are in young adults.
Hospitalization rate isn't going to be nearly as high for that group.

chode presser today, spike overnight, going back to phase 1?
Posted on 6/24/20 at 8:01 am to MorbidTheClown
How do you have a spike overnight unless it’s a test dump

Contact tracing is going to make these numbers increase.
Also, you've finally got it moving around in the two remaining metro areas with any sort of population in the state.
Nuts.

Why would there not be an increase in contractions for elderly?
Posted on 6/24/20 at 8:36 am to TigersSEC2010
Do they announce date of death with those death numbers? I'm more curious about how that metric is working these days.
Apparently Delaware announced 67 deaths yesterday, and they were all delayed in reporting in some fashion.

Because it's already ripped through many of the nursing homes were half-ish of the deaths have come from?
Edit: These 20-ish+ year olds getting positives in Tigerland have parents that are in their 40s or 50s. Obviously, they should be pretty smart concerning precautions on preventing spread, but it's not like their parents (the older people they are most likely to encounter) are in the high risk group.
