If the national trend continues we'll finally be at 0 new deaths by mid-July

Florida is the new epicenter

quote:

Florida had its biggest spike yet in new coronavirus cases on Thursday, with 3,208 new cases in just 24 hours, according to CBS Miami. The state now has nearly 86,000 total cases of the coronavirus, according to the state Department of Health, and more than 3,000 people have died.

The report predicts that in Palm Beach County, which has the third highest number of coronavirus cases in the state, the number of cases will rapidly increase through July 5 if social distancing practices remain the same. On Thursday, the county's ICU beds were 82% occupied, according to CBS Miami.

A similar outcome is expected for Miami-Dade, which currently leads the state with 23,854 cases.

“The increases in overall cases are NOT a result from increased testing! Do not continue to go into public and stay home and rely on government to support you!”

lol

Article only mentions cases. The average positive age is close to 30

And article doesnt mention hospital utilization other than 82% icu beds utilized

That is the same everywhere because there was a 2-3 month backlog of elective CABGs and what not which require a couple days in ICU

I’m told most of the long term care facilities that tested 100% negative nearly all have positives which have been contact traced back to bars opening.

Since the 2nd round of testing there has been an almost double increase (20ish residents to 41 as of yesterday)

Are there a lot of young people where y’all work?
I don’t see the employees where my Grandpa is going out to bars

I do feel bad when I see the frail older gentleman doing the shopping in a mask — is he doing the shopping to protect his spouse? This is the case for my parents.

The massive influx of curbside pick up, grocery delivery, and even grocery shopping apps makes this completely and totally unnecessary

But part of that 82% are surgery patients/car accidents/etc right? I understand that it’s still beds being used but I’m just saying that not all beds are being taken by covid. Right?

Absolutely not. They are trending towards being the next hit spot but there can be only one epicenter of an event.

Yes, the demographic of staff as well as third party health provider visitors is predominantly 20-35 I would venture to say.

It’s just beds taken so it can be for anything, not specific to Covid

A family member of one of my best friends was just diagnosed with cancer
Had been having issues with sore throat & once he was able to see Dr. they found it, waiting to get results to see if it spread
It’s my understanding it doesn’t start where they found it but I hope I’m wrong

So many people are going to have health issues due to not being able to see a Dr. when they needed to

I have a hard time believing that 20 people a day for the last four days have died from COVID. Especially since previous numbers are half of that per day.

Not sure who has been keeping an eye on Sweden, but despite having the highest infection rate, their deaths seem to have slowed greatly.

Lots of different factors involves so not much definitely can be said. They also suffered from elderly not being protected early on.

Right. The path they took is certainly different and not without drawbacks.

Not sure what can be learned from them being ahead of the curve now. They have been very open with their numbers

and you are completely incorrect. I can give you the exact reason for my fathers outings. I promise you, if you will slow down your ridiculousness and critically think, you could figure out some things.

But you will not. One day you will

Sweden took their lumps, but they seem to be on the way out of this. They fricked up with their nursing homes and that is where about 3/4ths of their deaths are. They are going to be having concerts and sporting events in the Fall. They did the right thing apart from their failure to do enough for their nursing homes.
