I don't know about the CDC recommendations, but JBE has definitely encouraged people to get tested even if they think they were around someone who tested positive. I'm sure if it was up to JBE, everyone would be tested multiple times.

You're acting like the older group isn't being infected as well.

While this may be true, if you’re asymptotic it’s harder than you would think to actually get a test.

It has tightened up but a couple of weeks ago it wasn’t hard to get tested

No, no im not

But if the rate of infections now is geared far younger than before(which it is), its clear the deaths will not rise with the cases like before

Its common sense that only someone with 100% political motivations could argue otherwise

Ok. Just use round numbers.

4 months ago 4000 people over 60 were infected. High death rate.

By the end of this month lets say 10,000 people total are infected, say 60% are under 60.

Which one had more age related high risk patients?

Any idea if rate is really geared towards younger people now or if we just were not testing young healthy people early in virus?

most places i checked in BR two weeks ago would not test if you were asymptomatic. Even when i said i was in direct contact with a positive case. So i just ended up not getting tested.

My wife really wanted to be tested so i lied on her cvs.com online application and said she had symptoms.

To me it seems likely that deaths will be less this time than the first spike because it seems like large scale infections in nursing homes were a major driving factor of the deaths in the early going.

That's not to say deaths won't go up at all or that hospitalizations won't go up (seems they already are). I'm guessing some of the young people that have been getting it will pass it on to their parents, grandparents, etc. But unless it gets back into the nursing homes in a significant way, I'd guess the deaths won't spike like they did before.

We were only testing sick people, now we are testing anyone who wants it. And I believe now it counts as a positive test even if it detects traces of the virus that you successfully defeated a month ago.

I really want to know what % of "new cases" are
A. Symptomatic
B. Of a person who already previously tested positive

People in this thread saying that places are only testing those with symptoms goes against everything I've seen locally.

According to Dr. Stefanski, only one positive confirmed case per person. Not sure if it's still happening and being removed later or what.

no place in BR even had those two weeks ago. some did say they had more on order though. so the supply probably fluctuates depending on delivery dates.

I’ve heard that hospitals can handle a contraction rate below 10%. It’s hovering around that mark now but that’s with a testing protocol that only calls for those with symptoms get tested.

If Only those with symptoms get tested, the contraction rate is going to be perverted to be higher than reality. Everyone should get tested so that we have a real picture of what we’re dealing with.

They total tests have been 1200+ for a week or so now. Positive rate is less than 5%.

Cantrell saying she wants to shut it down because they want the average below 50/day.
