Heard this as well. Aren’t the two brothers part of triplets? If so, I would imagine medical professions and epidemiologist are going to take a very close look at their cases. At the frequency young people have severe symptoms, for two teenage brothers to both experience very severe cases seems almost impossible

Not sure about the triplet thing ... one graduated in 2019 from HS and I "thought" that the other was in HS this coming fall.

Well I just see ICU BED availability and ALL bed availability so ... does the ALL BED availability include the 41 available ICU beds?

Either way, assuming that those numbers are accurate, the icu bed availability AND regular bed availability are stable from last week for my region.

Will they update the recovered number tomorrow?

Sadly, it appears they updated it today- just through 6/30 instead of 7/05 which would have been the trend of their other updates. Makes me wonder if there is an anticipated surge in presumed recovered as they are having these huge data dumps.

Below is what the father of the two boys posted regarding their updates -- one is asking for a poboy so I assume that means he's feeling better. I know that our residents weren't asking for poboys or anything for a long time after they were diagnosed. And not sure where St. Pat's is??

quote:

Would like to give everyone an update.
David was lifeflighted to Oschner in New Orleans last night. He has been stabilized and they are prepared to begin ECMO if his condition deteriorates any further.
Jacob is still in ICU at St Pat’s. Last night they were able to wean him off BiPap. He’s asking for a Darrels poboy so must be feeling better. He is receiving plasma today.
What we are needing is Convalescent plasma from donors that have recovered from Covid and now have antibodies. We need B-
I am currently waiting on a response from the blood bank at Oschner on where to direct any potential donors. As soon as I get that information I will post it.
Please continue praying for these boys.
Jesus I trust in you !

just saw this post on FB

quote:

NOLA FRIENDS:
***Searching for CONVALESCENT PLASMA Donor for Lafayette Teen headed to NOLA***

UPDATE: Please contact Vitalant if you are in the Lafayette area or call Life Share (on Debakey Drive in Lake Charles) and tell them you would like to donate plasma.

*** Donor can be blood type B or AB ***

David Lemaire, 19 years old, is being life flighted to New Orleans to be placed on ECMO. Blood type B-

His family is looking for someone who has had Covid-19 and has antibodies.
B or AB blood type (either - or +) can donate plasma to B-

Please pray for David’s & his family, including his younger brother, Jacob who is stable, yet still on BiPap in Lafayette hospital.

quote:

Please pray hard. David is being rushed to New Orleans. He needs every prayer he can get right now.
Lord, we entrust David into your hands. We know the depth of your love for him is greater than we could ever comprehend. We pray, Lord, that you breathe your healing breath into him. Rid his body of this virus. Lend him your strength, Lord. Carry him through this place of darkness and restore him to full health. Make him whole, Lord. And, always keep him by your side, surrounded by your light and love.

Be with his parents, Tricia and Mark, who yearn to be with him. Give them the peace of knowing that you have sent the Holy Spirit, the Blessed Mother, and all of the angels and saints to comfort and protect David in this hour of need. Allow them to draw strength from the multitude of prayers being offered for them and to trust in your love for them and their son.

Place your healing blessings upon David’s siblings, his Nana, and all those who love him so dearly, that they may persevere in prayer and draw closer to you in this time of need.
Jesus, we trust in you. Amen.

I believe you are incorrect with this line of thinking as someone in a previous thread posted the cases and deaths in a line graph. The lag was something like 8-14 days from the inflection point/spike in cases to the spike in deaths. We are WELL past that here and the deaths are not following.

Yeah in JBE's tongue lashing a few weeks back he said that deaths lag the positive cases which of course is true. Yet we still see deaths decreasing after the "spikes"

I think all will be good. The OT told me a long time ago that predictions of 60,000 deaths nationwide were wild exaggerations.

St. Pat’s and Darrell’s, the place where the boy asked for a PoBoy from, are in Lake Charles.

was concerned with rising hospitalization numbers, but it seems the nature of these stays is different than what we saw in Mar/Apr.

Right. To me the most obvious way that is possible is that they are taking patients into the hospital now that they would not have taken in April because they're not severely ill enough.

Let's talk about how it could be possible that deaths aren't tracking with cases.

People speculate that the virus is now weaker. Maybe, but that seems odd unless they mean that our immune systems are better at fighting it now.

I think that the test is picking up remains of the virus in people who became infected during the spring.

Also, I've read two different papers today that state that, because we have all been exposed to coronaviruses before, most of us can mount a strong immune response. This is contrary to what we've been told all along.

Yes that is what I'm looking at ... I'll assume that available beds does NOT include ICU available beds

Talked to a buddy of mine that works in one of the hospitals here and he said that because the ICU beds are available they are using them for Covid patients that don't really need them. So if the need was there they could easily move them to a normal room

Did you see the FB post from the dad I just shared? It's from today and one of the kids is requesting a Darrel's poboy.

(I'm wondering why he's in LC and not LFT??)
