No we won’t have zero cases and that isn’t the goal.

Hoping our state leaders see it that way.

BTW, anyone know how many are in the hospital in the convention center in NOLA? Last I heard was Monday and it was 23 "recovering" covid patients.

Looks like they are starting to fill in the data to show when symptom were first started. So far they have some data for March.

13,308 of the positive cases have already been attributed to symptoms starting in March.

It's odd that they only have 190 deaths attributed to cases started in March.

These numbers look great. If we arent opened up by May 1 its time for insurrection.

You Cletuses still spinning the false narrative that any significant group of people wanted to close down the state/country for half a year? JBE has followed Trump's guideline dates. I suspect given the numbers things might reopen on April 20 or so... which, I know, sadly doesn't comport to your political narratives and fear-mongering about the economy but you'll get over it.

wait

what?

the projections have been severely revised over the past 7 days, bubba. if they continue down this revision path, a lot of this would not have been necessary (esp nationally)

Not even really a fan of Trump, but the guy was a genius for saying things should be opening by Easter.

I stand corrected.

Huh? You're saying none of these practices would have been necessary? You're ignoring the obvious cause and effect social distancing has had in decreasing the numbers. This was the goal the whole time. A temporary shutdown of a few weeks to contain the spread of the virus.

A very stable genius.

Geez

Aren’t you the one who knew a perfectly healthy 30 year old who died

A perfectly healthy 16 year old on a vent

And now your cousin on a vent?

Really sorry to hear this and hope that he pulls through. Do you know if he's on the meds? What's his age if you don't mind my asking.

Nope my brother in law had a friend in his 40s pass from covid 19 from St Amant
My Boss has a 16 year old from near slaughter that is off the vent.
My cousin is from Metairie and was put on the ventilator last night. What’s really bad he got sick last Wednesday and he is a security guard for a plant near metairie. Imagine how many people he came in contact with. 48 years old

This thread every day:

Number of cases up but deaths down:
Tending good!

Number of cases down but deaths up:
Also good! Deaths are a lagging indicator!

Lol

If it keeps alternating in this pattern, isn’t it just, you know, continuing in the same way? Not really good or bad

in most of the country? no

this was not NEARLY as bad as it was projected. the early models were terrible and over-predicted hospital use, deaths, etc

quote:

social distancing was a means to flatten the curve, not eradicate the spread. it also hasn't been around long enough nor practiced at a high enough level to really make a dent. the old models were doomcasting WITH social distancing factored in. we've been very bad at social distancing and the secondary issues are dropping like a rock

quote:

This was the goal the whole time. A temporary shutdown of a few weeks to contain the spread of the virus.

that was literally not the goal

it was to social distance until a vaccine could be made or we could produce enough PPE, ICU beds, vents, etc. to handle a larger spike

Do you know if he got tested early and put in the hospital? Or was he at home and got worse? Again, sorry to hear this for your family and pray for a recovery for him.

Wouldn't surprise me. They've already put May 4 as a target date. They could very well keep that because most people are strangers to common sense and would interpret gradual reopening to everyone rush out and start groping and coughing on people.

I would say if it keeps trending the same way it would be a good thing since we are nowhere near capacity
