if the government is paying for your meals, I have no issue with them saying what you can and cannot buy.

Well it's coming from the feds, who are selling bonds to finance most of their speniding these days, so I guess it's coming from the Chinese.

It may be funded by the feds, but it's from taxpayers

That's fine.
Point being... if someone else is giving you money to eat, I'm ok with them putting restrictions on that.

This is the poorest thing I’ve ever read here
I’m not spending $2 every time I’m thirsty. That’s what a poor person would do. Being rich is a mentality, not a number on a bank statement. Making easy decisions and not challenging your instincts will inhibit your ability to make big moves when needed.
I’m perfectly fine with someone calling me poor. I’m perfectly fine with my financial condition and am way more proud of the way I spend money than how much I earn. I’m not frugal, I’m just aware of when I am wasting money and challenge myself when I do.
That being said, allowing SNAP recipients to buy things at convenience stores, or sugary treats at the grocery store, does not set them up for success, it doesn’t instill the mentality of understanding when you are being wasteful. It doesn’t do anything to get them to the same level as someone that doesn’t buy that shite anyway.

needs to happen in all 50 states.
Nothing like doing your weekly grocery run and trying to keep it under $300-$350 (while feeding kids and eating healthy). Only to see a SNAP recipient with a buggy filled to the brim (most of it junk).

The problem with allowing SNAP to purchase junk food and sodas is that it creates a never ending circle of fat unhealthy families that leech off the government. They are generally on medicaid/medicare as well. Meaning that we are paying for them to get unhealthy then we are paying for their medical care. So we are buying them fudge rounds and cokes. Then paying for their insulin. We could save a ton of tax payer funds by not allowing unhealthy foods to be purchased with SNAP. Eggs, milk, meat, fruits and vegetables should be the extent. We try to make being poor to comfortable.

would like to see is to require single parents to pursue the absent parent for child support. Some states require this, and some states require the absent parent to be current in cs payments to qualify.
There's a lot of family reform that needs to be done. This one along with mandatory paternity testing should be law nationwide.

Disgusting. Why don’t the working poor deserve a few sodas after dutifully fulfilling their shifts? Trump’s america is a hell scape
Exactly. Just another way to frick over the less fortunate.
