I have a feelig you're going to see a lot of housewives, college students, laid off people, teachers not going into the classroom, offering tutoring and sitting services once school starts up...there's money to be made and these people will get creative to figure out a way to get their hands on your stimulus money

My daughter will be entering her first year in high school. She turned 14 last week and we can tell she is getting very depressed from not being around other kids her age. We asked her if she wanted to do virtual learning and her answer was pretty much frick NO! She said she wants to meet new people. She will be going from a private school with a class of 14 to a pretty large public school in Central Lafourche.

I thought about moving out that way just so my son could go to Central Lafourche. Great school.

Friends of mine are doing this $500 a month for 3-5th grade students. Two of them currently have 22 kids signed up. 22 kids at 500 a month is more money than they currently make teaching. Even split two ways they will make more.

At the moment, my district is going back in person with students K-6. Virtual is an option for them. 7-12 will be virtual until phase 3 is reached, then things will be reassessed. Like I keep telling everyone, though, it is all fluid. Things could change tomorrow.

I'm not paying $7000 a year for school. Props to those who can afford it, not bashing the decision.

It's one lesson you film a day, so essentially kids would be behind a computer for 4 hours a day watching and then doing the assignments

That shite isn't going to work. No one pays attention on conference calls, and that's adults. I dont expect my 1st and 4th grader to learn a god damn thing from virtual learning this year, and i'm not makign them do it either. Either go to school, or there is no school, and if there is no school, i'm not paying for it. We pay money for our kids to go to private schools not so much for the education, but for the culture and environment the school offers. They can't offer that through a computer screen. You want virtual learning for 8 year olds, fine, i'll deduct that from my tuition that i chose to pay in installments this year b/c of this crap. ANd if you don't like it, and say we can't come back next year, then so be it. We'll find another school that isn't retarded, if possible.
I'm not putting up with this shite again this year. No one asked for a refund last year. We understand it was unprecedented. There is absolutely no reason to not start school and stay in school all school year. If teachers are scared, they can stay their arse home and not work and not get paid, although i'm sure most will enjoy the "our teachers are heroes" crap that will be spewed all year. I will gladly volunteer for a week to teach as a substitute if necessary if it means the kids stay in school, and i'm 100% positive that many others at my kids school feel the exact same way.

Fair enough. I was just asking.

I don’t blame you especially can you imagine paying tuition to have your kid basically home schooled?

From what I hear, aren't private schools still doing in class teaching?

They all think they are, that’s what they’re saying because tuition is due.

That will change in the next few weeks

Yall hear this chick on right now? Arguing against masks in school cause a stranger could come in wearing a mask and you wouldn't know it. Also, it's hard to hear someone talking through a mask.

You are wrong on both counts

Tuition was due long ago for most private schools, and they absolutely arent going back unless the govt comes in and forces their hand

I brought that up a few weeks ago.....kids have ID's and badges to access certain parts of the school.....making them wear mask is a safety issue....also, how the frick is a teacher going to teach a classroom full of 25-30 kids with everyone wearing mask...

Both of these are actually very valid

I have noticed it hard to catch every word a waiter says while wearing a mask. Being in the back room of a classroom would cause more issues

I don't have kids, but if I did this would be my exact thoughts on the matter. Keeping kids out of school is fricking asinine.
