This suggest Dallas county increased property taxes last year along with 7 of the 15 most populous counties in Texas

Six cities have kept their tax rates unchanged, but with rising home values and potential voter-approved bond propositions in the November election, residents in these municipalities could still see tax increases.

Dallas county specifically cut their rate. That article is giving a million hypotheticals. Most of those bonds failed, and is saying that is appraised values went up that’s a tax “increase” which is a stretch. Most Texans property tax bills were lower in 2024 than in 2023.

Man you were getting ripped off bigly on property taxes 15 years ago. I bet your house has increased in value by a helluva lot more than 150% since 2010.

He’s full of shite. He’s a lib that votes for tax increases and then will come in here and bitch about it.

(He also lives in the same zip code as me so I know he’s unequivocally full of shite)

I'm not seeing a 10% cut there. I'm seeing about $500. or less than 3%.

tax and spend crowd is willing to do to prevent tax cuts.

Hello from fort bend county. The assessor will just max out everyone’s assessments at 10% every year, and the Asians will continue to vote yes on any bond that has anything to do with an ISD.

But still better than Louisiana.

It has but they can only raise it by10% a year by law. My income certainly hasn't gone up 150% which is why a state income tax that is based on your income is a much fairer tax.

We got a tax break about 2 years ago when the Leg raised the deduction but that savings was gone in 2 years time due to greating valuations by the county. It will be the same this time too. We need a Cali style Prop 13.

This one of the dumbest things I’ve read this month

And your old, your property taxes are about to be frozen until you croak and you’ll get an increased exemption

Not to mention that your property and auto insurance is going to be double in Louisiana vs Texas (if not more).

Gee I wonder why that is

Louisiana cons - hurricanes, high homeowner insurance, high car insurance, high crime rate, poor infrastructure, addiction is at its highest in gambling and alcohol.

Texas cons - can't think of any.
Texas for the WIN.

And in Louisiana we get a terrible crumbling infrastructure with little opportunities compared to Tx.

I’ve always wondered if Texas was intentionally making I-10 right across the border a shite show for 40 years to prevent more Louisiana migration

Just to add another comparison to the discussion….

In Alabama, my property tax is lower, but I pay 5% state income tax and 10% sales tax on everything I buy including groceries!

Also for discussion purposes, according to the link below Texas actually has more “regressive” tax policy than Alabama and Louisiana, which surprised me.

***Not saying their conclusions are correct - just what their formula shows.
