It was lifelong for the Baw that lost his life.

If your friend dabbles in that world, they may already buy a black market passport every 10 years. They would probably say it’s cheaper and higher success rate than keeping an attorney on retainer.

Is fleeing to Mexico still a viable option if I ever get in to trouble here?
Another dude from the Ringgold area was just nabbed trying to cross into Mexico. The cops were onto him for some equipment thefts and other crimes.
A Shreveport chef murdered his girlfriend and headed to Mexico. They caught him down there pretty quickly.
Washington Post had a good article about the "gringo hunters," a dozen Mexican cops in Baja that are devoted to finding these guys in Tijuana and similar locales. They catch an average of 13 Americans a month, everything from murderers to pedophiles. They say gringos tend to wear more shorts and flip-flops than a Mexi.

Lesson learned.
When you go to Mexico don’t stay near the boarder.
Dress and act like a local.

They thought the Shawshank Redemption ending was real.

Ringgold, LA- anyone from there post here LOL?
I lived in Ringgold all of my life. I was 11 years old when this happened.
Interesting LSU tie to the story, the guy Greg Lawson shot is named Seth Garlington. Seths dad was an All American Defensive End at LSU and played 10 years in the NFL.

Fun fact: if you try to murder a lifelong friend, that friendship was not lifelong.
They weren’t life long friends. They weren’t friends at all. The Garlington brothers were 8-10 years younger than Greg (who was a grade ahead of me) and the Garlingtons didn’t move to town till after I left in 1979. I only knew of them because they went to FBC.
Sadly, one brother was shot, but not killed. The other brother got hit by a train and killed, and the dad, a game warden, was somehow killed on one of the lakes (drowned, boating accident) IIRC.

Y’all catch the end? If he really is innocent then how is he a coward for not sticking around in a Louisiana prison for decades?
He’s as guilty as sin. Many people saw the fight. It was in daylight at a very popular convenience store/gas station (Clayborn’s).

I had forgotten that, but you are correct. I lived there 18 years and got the hell out as fast as possible. Condolences if you are still there. It’s the definition of a dying town. I was just there for a funeral this week.

That Mr. Wonder weirdo from Monroe fled to Japan and some other country I don't remember. Got away with it for years, adding additional molestations all the while.

What is your last name? I have an older brother that graduated from Ringgold in 1983. Jason Edwards is his name.
Me and another brother bought Tiptons gas station in May of this year.
I moved to Minden 4 years ago.

I mean when a town’s only got 1000 people, you’re gonna know each other.

I would probably keep going past Mexico honestly
Posted on 9/23/23 at 2:08 pm to justaniceguy
Mexico isn’t the place to go to anymore.
I’m not sure where I’d flee to maybe somewhere in Europe, the Caribbean, but more than likely I’d flee to the wilds or Montana/Idaho
