I had some relatives in there in the 90s. It's swanky. At least it was. Haven't set foot in there since maybe 95.

Could someone there give a shout out if it filters out into the houses nearby? Asking for a friend, really.

You have to feel bad for these people because they are now isolated in their rooms. No Bingo or social activities until further notice.

So is everybody trapped there now or can people come get their 90 year relative and bring them home until this blows over?

See, this is where I get skeptical about this whole thing. How did these three old people in an uppity nursing home in N.O. get in contact with this already?

Somebody on staff picked it up at the grocery store or the beauty parlor or the bus stop. Pandemic viruses are like that; no respect for old money.

Fox 8

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - “I’m in independent living, and I don’t want to be in Lambeth House right now,” says Ann Bradbury.

Ann Bradbury is one of 268 residents of Lambeth’s House on Broadway. After hearing an 84-year-old Lambeth House resident is one of the presumed cases of Covid-19, She’s leaving town.

“My daughter can’t come to where I am, so we are going to go where we can be together,” says Brandbury.

“We have some family members who are accusing us of holding their loved ones prisoner, fabricating this whole thing and that none of this is real,” says Hoffman.

Clearly these family members are reading the OT for their information.

And you know there’s a great chance the kids of the people in the Poydras home live less than a mile or two away

Some of it. Nursing homes are ruthless.

Medicare makes you use all your available resources before reimbursement to the facility. They will review several years of financial records to make sure you didn’t pass off money knowing you need a nursing home in the immediate future. The facilities themselves are very expensive (think $10k/month for a couple at a decent facility); they run you dry then Medicare starts making payments for a much lower level of care.

If you have elderly parents for close family members, get their affairs in order and buy la long term care policy.

That's what I have been saying..
From what I understand the people in Italy ignored, to some degree, the warnings from the government. Just take a look at what is going on over there.

Morris would have coffee at CCs on Jefferson on Saturday mornings with his dad and wheel him around the neighborhood.

Hilarious part about the Lambeth House thing is, as they were doing a story of it on the news, they interviewed a resident driving away saying, "I'm getting out of here!" And thus it spreads!
