"Lost" wallet and cell phone.

I went shopping yesterday after running, and had on pocketless running shorts. I left both my cell and wallet in the shopping cart as I put stuff in my vehicle. I got five minutes away and realized I didn't have them, and by the time I returned thay had dissapeared. I don't know what I was expecting but I was disgusted and pissed that no one turned them in.
I shut down everything and no accounts were pilfered. I used Find My iPhone to locate my phone in a seedy apartment complex dumpster, but it was too disgusting to make an attempt to recover and I couldn't see the phone or wallet physically.
What would you do in that situation? I would take the stuff into the store and turn it in without giving it a second thought. They aren't my things. This was my fault for not being more careful but I just expected more.

I was going to make a joke but then I saw your location is Salt Lake City. I guess you have to just suck it up and cut your losses. Next time don’t wear pocketless shorts and keep track of your shite

Breaking news: people are terrible now and have lower moral and ethical standards

I wouldn't leave my fricking wallet and phone in a grocery cart.

The social trust has been broken for decades. Imagine that.

Too much of my identity is based on being better than others. Putting that on the line for $100 or so is just morally cheap.
I admit It’s often a detriment. Like I never lied on a résumé and apparently 80% of the public does, So I’m just “stupid” for not lying?
Two months ago I found $300 (three $100 bills) on the ground by the cashier of a checkout stand at a grocery store chain. (Checkout stands are back to back) I Picked up the money , got the cashier’s attention I said “ I think these fell out of your register”
When my friend saw me do this he kind of got upset. “How do you know they fell out of her register maybe a customer dropped them. You should’ve made her get the manager and count out the register to be sure that she was missing $300”
Regardless, it wasn’t my 300. If a persons morals can be that cheaply purchased, That’s on them not me

While there are good people, the trash breed prolifically.

Sorry your stuff got stolen by some low life. Sounds like you need a fanny pack though.

I recovered my daughter's stolen phone from a thief once using a tracker.

Found a neighbor of my folks stuff just down from their mailbox a few years ago.
Neighbor put wallet and checkbook on roof and then drove off. He hadn't even realized he lost them when I called him to let him know I found them.

So...exactly where bums and scumbags look for easy targets?

Are you a guy? If yes, then why are you wearing yoga pants?

quote:It was 24 hours before I remembered I had this capability. Once I used the software I drove over to see this overflowing, disgusting dumpster. The sound option didn't work because I think the phone was dead at this point. The last ping from the phone was 11pm the night it was missing and this was a day later. I felt like Columbo driving over though.
