Wasn't Runnels a perennial small school baseball contender?

West High Blue Devils was the "black" school in Jackson. They consolidated with Jackson in 1970. That school became Jackson Elementary. Btw, Jackson High was burned down in 78-79. It was truly a really good school in those days. Don't know much about East Feliciana High to comment.

It’d cause a fortune keeping up with cooling at full capacity if they did that
Most schools have modern air conditioning equipment or have buildings that are designed to have air conditioning run 24/7 or it will mold up.

Hyatt Bulldogs Only had graduating classes of like 8-10 people and 150 kids total in K-12 when they closed in 2007. Divided the kids up to other schools to save money
We’re our biggest rival for ever. I think the vast majority of the kids went to Singer. We used to get our asses handed to us by Fenton regularly back in the day. They had some really good basketball teams.
School board threatened for years to consolidate us, DeQuincy, and Vinton and build a massive school out in Edgerly and call it West Calcasieu. Never came to pass though.

I work at a school built in 2021. They still have to constantly screw with heating/cooling to save money.

Larose-Cut Off + Galliano + Golden Meadow= South Lafourche High School
I could be wrong but I think before LCO was built there was a Cut Off High School that was in a 2 story wooden building on the East side of the bayou across from where the elementary school is at now.
I think it burned down or was destroyed by a hurricane. The school district built a VoTech school at that site, and it is now the south Campus of the Virtual Academy of Lafourche.
I remember this as a kid seeing it memorialized one year on the cover of a Latelco Phone book. Also another phone book memorialized a barge pulled by cable that would transport kids across the bayou before buses became commonplace.

St Joseph Catholic Black Knights (Chauvin)

The school cost too much to operate. When St. Joe closed, St. Joseph Church in Chauvin was deeply in debt. So the Church created Lagniappe on the Bayou that grew into a powerhouse fair until the mid1990’s when the local bishop decided against having church fairs. I was going through some old tapes this week and saw some old video of the last day of the fair.

Which defunct high school has the best sports history?
I don't know about the best, but Atlanta High School had a really good boys basketball program for a long time. They were dominating in the 1990's from what I remember.

Sacred Heart on Canal AKA Yat Sacred Heart, which was coed, became all girls some time in the sixties, closed and became Seton Academy in the seventies. It closed sometime in the 90’s.

The highschool grades of St. Francis De Sales in Houma became Vandebilt Catholic, with a brief stint as Houma Central Catholic. I actually have my grandpas Letterman's jackets under all 3 names.

Lee class of 07 here.
They changed the mascot from the Rebels to the Patriots my sophomore year. Any school spirit i might have had went straight into the toilet.
II remenber thinking to myself "this must be how Johnny Reb felt when he laid his guns down to the yanks."

Also seems like we played a school called Plain Dealing Academy but that could have been a dream.
There was a Plain Dealing in the early 2000s. They were terrible in football.

Judice High School is not on the list. Judice and Scott were consolidated to make Acadiana High School in 1969.
