There’s always 3 or 4 different ways to go in LA. These folks just aren’t using Waze.

Waze didnt exist when i lived in L.A.. i’m aging myself here, but we had something called the Thomas Guide, which was basically a book of maps that you carried with you in your car.. in any case, L.A. is all about shortcuts and backways; you couldnt have paid me to get on the 405, the 10 or the 101 when i lived there... My favorite shortcut was one time when i was leaving Los Angeles proper to go ‘over the hill’ to the Valley; the person giving me directions said to ‘take a left at Bob Barker’s house’; he described the house to me and, sure enough, it worked like a charm.

I avoid the 405 and 101 like the plague, but Occasionally I don’t have a choice. I’m one of the lucky ones that can take surface streets to and from work and it only add about 10 minutes to my drive.

Took us over 2 hours a couple of weeks ago to get from just east of downtown to the South Bay. That’s only 31 miles.

I’ll not be venturing far from home his weekend.

Hmm.. doesn’t ring a bell.. that may have been one of the side streets, but as i recall, Barker’s house was on Outpost Dr.

I do not miss it.
I miss Southern California except for the traffic.
