Because its politics.. And you have to be careful. Even if its something small, it will be used against you. He was creating a perception using his reality..

Its just better to be specific because like I said.. Any little hint of deception will be used against you.

Yeah. I agree with others that he was relying on the ignorance of the public to read more into it but it's a stretch to call it stolen valor.

Ironically, Salon is relying on the ignorance of the public to call this stolen valor

People in the army can't even agree on this topic. But outside of a few in the bats most would have no problem with what he claimed.

First thing I thought of. JBE did the exact same thing.

If he graduated Ranger school and was pinned as a Ranger, then he's a Ranger.

Do people really have a problem with someone who earned a "Ranger" tab being called an "Army Ranger?" I have never been exposed to this point of view before, and it seems wrong to me.

Sure, "anyone in the Army" is eligible to attend Ranger school. They've got to actually complete the training to get the tab, and the tab by any name is very prestigious.
This.

Dude earned a tab? He’s a Ranger.

Soldiers who complete the course earn the right to wear the Ranger tab — a small arch that reads "Ranger"
Also- Am I reading too much into it or does it sort of sound like the writer is belittling the tab a bit?

I'm probably reading too much into it.

on tv the army ranger is the new navy seal, seems like every youngish cop on all of the cop shows is a former army ranger

I think this part is the most belittling

Ranger School, a two-month-long, small-unit tactical infantry course that literally anyone in the military is eligible attend.

This is bullshite. He served as an infantry platoon leader in Iraq in one of the deadliest time periods. I get it that many in the military will dick measure what it means to be a “real” ranger but saying stolen valor is bullshite. And certainly not anywhere close to Blumenthal.

There was an article out yesterday on that Madison Cawthorn guy that's more devastating than this piece on Cotton is. Basically calling him a liar for claiming he was training for the paralympics. It quoted several actual paralympic athletes who all said they had never seen him at any events, and that his claims had become a running joke within the paralympic community.

I mean, I can train for the olympics in my back yard. I don't have to go to a sanctioned event to affirm that I'm training. Hell, I can train for BUDs in my backyard as well. Doesn't mean much more than that.

I know Madison personally and your hit piece is false.

It wasn't my hit piece, I just read it.

But what is false in it?

The Nation

Not being antagonistic. If it's false, I'd rather be informed.

Tom Cotton is a decades-long career Congress ghoul waiting to happen.

Now we just know he's a lying cuck too.
