Would you mind expanding on this? Were you in between any places like say Boise? Hows the general job market and housing market? Are you working in Spokane? Are you/wife originally from BR?

Interested in hearing as much as you would detail as this is something I will look at seriously in the future

I'm in Spokane, complete methville, but we escape to CDA often and love it there.

Congratulations and good luck on your new adventure.

Make sure to tell the locals that you're NOT coming in from California.

The Marina had a nativity scene in their window during the holidays.

You never see those in WA or OR.

Wanted to before the pandemic

I grew up there and you cannot convince me a house on Banks and Broad is worth over $300,000

I should move back and run for mayor

But I wouldn’t win

There’s more to do in a place like CDL than Baton Rouge. It’s almost as if you can do outdoor activities that don’t involve being fat in a duck blind or boat.

That’s awesome. Very jealous of your move. Winters won’t be so bad. I’m going through a winter storm in PA right now and will probably have 10”+ of snow by the morning. Bundle up when you go outside and you’ll be fine. The summers will more than make up for the winters. Congrats sir.

If you like outdoor activities it is awesome, and you will never be bored.
It is life at a slower pace.

I was looking for a smaller town. I actually had a list of several states. Idaho, Colorado, NW Arkansas, East Tennessee, Nothern Gumpistan, Montana. Ive been skying in Colorado for 25 years but the cost of living is insane there.

Idaho is growing rapidly right now and it has a great economic out look. I'm actually working in a small town in the Silver Valley which is east of CDA by 30 minutes.

I was born in New Orleans but we were both raised in BR. We just want to escape the city and live a more simple life. I also want the kids to grow up skiing and snow boarding.

Yeah, Nola real estate prices don't match the economic opportunities.

Well looks like it's only 4 degrees colder than Baton Rouge right now so maybe so. But I'm sure it's nothing for them to get down to -30 on the regular so I'll say no licking poles.

Nice little ski area there. The original name was "Jackass Ski Area."

No necessary. AWD is better anyway.

None of my vehicles are 4WD or AWD. I just put snow tires on them every fall..
