have a friend that was previously a pilot, but the schedule was hard on the family, then the economy went to shite in 2007 and he'd work a few months, then get laid off. He wanted the security of steady hours, a steady paycheck, and no traveling. He's been a cop for about 12 years now and is doing well as a detective.
Bet he is pissed now that the new contracts can have senior pilots making upwards of $500k

You asked
I told you what 50 cars a year would get you based on new car fronts from my experience. If you only sell new cars and you only do 50 cars a year you need to find another job. I sell new and used. Used usually have a bigger front gross. Also, I'm not factoring in trades. The more you hold back on the trade the more front you can make. I averaged 4250 front gross and I sold 127 cars. I also get a bonus of 30% commission for next month if I sell 15 or more in a month. For simplicity sake take 4250 x .25 = 1062.50 x 127cars = 134,937.50 in commission. Then you add whatever you made on the back which can run on average about 100.

50-60 cars?

What you selling? I have some ideas and am assuming you are not in LA.
Flooring and home accent products. Siding, barn wood, shiplap, etc. Based in Memphis and we are a wholesaler selling to retailers all over the country.

The kid I've bought 90% of my offroad toys from for the last few years bought 45 acres from me last year.
Almost 100k of it was physical cash.
I'd say he does okay.

So he bought your land with your money?

Impressive that such a big outfit wants actual proven salespeople and not kids with degrees or salespeople who happen to have a degree in something unrelated they have never worked in

I don’t, but I’m on the road a lot (sales lol) and there are more road hazards than just curbs that can frick up tires. The tire/wheel warranty has paid for itself multiple times over.

I don't pay over cost... So that's unlikely. He's made spiffs I'm sure.
But he's mainly just been the guy who does the paperwork when I show up, and makes sure it's clean before I load it.
Good kid.
Eta: I did technically pay above cost in 2022, but I got the last one available in the state... I checked.

I just can't make the math work on these. My last Audi they tried to sell me some wheel/tire thing and it was something insane like $80 a month. I could replace a tire every other month and still break even compared to that plan. Plus many retailers (Discount, Sam's, etc.) and tire companies have warranties that help cover the cost of replacements should you have an issue.

If I was Loomis, I'd hire you as OC immediately. You don't even have to know any football, cuz you couldn't be any worse than the current OC.

I was waiting on someone to post something like this. And I agree.
However, the OP isn’t selling exotic luxury cars
You can make over $200,000 selling Hondas or Toyotas, and maybe even other brands. All depends on your productivity and the pay plan.
Stop being an ar$e.

If he wanted back into that industry, I doubt that it would be difficult. He was an Air Force pilot prior.

Man, I hate that, not my experience here in Alabama. Everywhere I cover has a shortage of CT and MRI techs
Might alert your local rad manager to the abundance here then. I'm sure any of the schools would love a hiring contact so they can keep churning out grads. Plus in order to fill the need for the "higher" specialties like CT and MR they are graduating ready to take the national certification exam at the same time for both basic and the advanced certs, eliminating a lot of waiting and precertification processing. ULM, NSU, Southern (Shreveport at least), just to name a few public colleges in N. La. all have programs and there are some Technical colleges around too.

My little bro sold them for two years and made good money, but things slowed down and he was working six days a week/70 plus hours.
He left and took a job at a local municipality for less money, but the benefits are awesome (free healthcare) and he knows what he is bringing home.
Try a job with a municipality, county or state, if you don't have a degree to fall back on.

Didn't read the whole thread so I don't know if you revealed your age. You have a degree, can you manage a career switch, even if it means being poor for a while and going back to school?
When I was about 21-22 I was in sales and making great money. But it was a grind and you started at zero every single month. I decided I needed make a change, moved to BTR, got my degree. I still had to work but went to school part time, didn't graduate until I was 27 as I had only myself to rely on. I'm going to retire next year.
