Get a mid-size SUV or truck, invest the difference.

When you need it, you've got it. 4x4 is always the answer

I don't drive for Uber, sorry. You'll have to find someone else to take you somewhere.

Go to FB marketplace, search within 10 miles of Metairie for Tundra. Buy one that is 2015 or newer, within a few k of 100k. Get 4wd. It will be less than $20k and last to 300k, or beyond. :

It was also made in San Antonio.

GM is the market leader in full sized trucks for a reason.

that may be, but their transmissions and AFM (flex fuel) on the half tons have driven me away from them. And I was a devout GM man for 30+ years. They completely shite the bed with their lousy trannys and, apparently, have now had to recall/quit selling their engines (21-24).
Ford or Dodge with 4WD would be my choice. Tundra just doesn't offer enough juice for the squeeze IMO. Unless Toyota completely revamped their interiors, they just don't justify the cost.

I have enjoyed my F 150. No major repairs have been needed. Having 4x4 comes in handy especially during the winter months.

Spoken by a immature, little guy that is defined by his lifted, obnoxiously loud hand me down from his dad bc he has no cash or credit.

And before you open your ignorant mouth again, I don't have a "little truck".

Yes 100%. Do not skimp out on 4wd. The few times you need it, you will be kicking yourself for not having it.

I wouldn’t even look at a midsize truck if towing 3,000# is on the table. Yes it could theoretically tow it but it’s gonna feel way under powered and the boat is gonna push that truck around. You want to be around 1/3 of your max towing capacity to feel like the truck can handle it. Midsize with that load would feel like my 3/4 town pulling a 12k bumper pull load. Get the half ton and not feel like towing is a chore.

This one is listed at 39k miles. Most people from the New Orleans/ Metairie area are too stupid to list the mileage when they try to sell their trucks. You will have to send them a message and ask.

What is your budget? What else do you need this vehicle to do? Daily driver, long commute, big family? Is fuel economy important? How far do you need to tow the boat? 5 miles to the river, or a 1000 miles for longer trips?

Almost any mid-size suv and larger will easily tow a 3,000 lb boat for short distances. Your budget and other needs should help determine what you end up getting.

I'm a big fan of the Ridgeline and it sounds perfect for the needs you described. Comfortable, efficient, capable, reliable, roomy, fairly reasonably priced, etc. Look for a CPO or used one for even a better deal.

Valid concern, but I think it's more true for the older mid sizers. I don't usually feel anything with our old 4Runner until we get closer to 4-5k, but at that level it starts to get sketchy especially since my trailer is a higher roof model that catches the wind on the highway. Cross winds on that trailer with a short wheelbase tow vehicle is....interesting.

That 4Runner has a shorter wheelbase, a weaker motor, and a transmission with fewer gears than the new mid sized pickups have.

A family member has a new GMC Canyon with the turbo motor, and I can confirm that it's far, far superior than the 4Runner with towing anything. It's got more engine, more stability, and it seems less impacted by cross winds when we've used it for the same trailer.

I wouldn't worry about 3K pounds with the newer mid sized trucks.

The newer mid sized trucks are at least as big (and unfortunately nearly as heavy) as the full sized models from 20-25 years back. And definitely more powerful. The Chevy Colorado comes standard with an engine that produces 430 lb ft of torque. You can opt for a Tacoma powerplant that puts out 465 lb ft. It seems nuts until you realize how big the newer "mid sized" trucks are.

Yeah and they are aggressively priced as a new vehicle too. It can handle light towing without much of an issue. A lot of people don't like the styling but I don't have any problem with it.

And it's as good as the full sized trucks when it comes to highway ride and comfort on road trips.

Look for a 21 Tundra with low miles. They’re pricey but maintence free with plenty of power. They’ll steal your lunch money in fuel costs though.

We have this F-150 that needs some ignition wiring repair.
Just make inquiries to the valet stand at the Westin in NOLA.
PS - we may be able to arrange other special order options...
