The Paramount is $1465, but comes with free wifi, parking, gym, and a pool.
If you want to stick to your $1100 budget, then I'd look into my other suggestion of a duplex or 4-plex Uptown.
I just looked up where it is. Wow it's really close to where I'll be working. If parking is free, I won't have any parking expenses at home or work because I would just walk. That would increases my renting budget by about $200/month. Add in the savings with the free wifi and gym and I may be able to make it work

No not at all lonely.... Moving in a new place in the CBD here in the next couple months. Been in the neighborhood since around '08 in several different places, the transformation has been dramatic and I'd say right now there may be even more construction and renovation going on and starting than at any other single period over the past 8 years. It's insane the number of apartments and condos that have come on-line and the market doesn't seem to be responding to the influx of supply.
It's just always an over looked spot. Same as Gentilly and Algiers that I tend to push because their positives seem to be often over looked.
Everytime you see these threads it's always uptown/midcity/whd, just giving my opinion.

I've heard Mid City is decent. I'll have to check it out. I just liked the idea of being that close to magazine and the bar scene over there.
To me, certain stretches of Mid-City are almost as good. BBG/BWG, Finn's, Yacht Club, lots of restaurants, etc all in the area, very centrally located and easy to get anywhere.
FYI. MidCity rent prices are going through the roof as more and more bars/restaurants/shopping centers etc move in.

If I was young and single I'd move into one of the new South Market District apartments. The Beacon or The Paramount.
Those are nice places, don't get me wrong. My opinion is that those places have a very sterile, houston vibe to them. If charm/character/"NOLA-style" matters to the OP, then I would not do these places.
Beacon and Paramount are just complexes from houston dropped into NOLA. Think along the lines of all the new luxury complexes sprouting up around LSU. If that doesn't bother OP, then I'd say go for it, as they are in a great location.
If OP wants something that is more "true" new orleans, then I'd look elsewhere in the CBD.
Those places are nice and new with some solid amenities, but when I toured them I just got the feeling that I was moving into a college apartment complex and I was ready for something different after living in those for 6 years.

Paramount does not come with parking, unless they've changed things in the last 12 months.

Maybe I misunderstood their website, but I couldn't find prices for parking anywhere and the website said that it included access to a parking garage.

Yea they don't have their own parking. There's a parking garage across the street (access) that you have to pay 250/month to park in.
Oh and that 250 does not come with parking during special events like saints games.

I agree, but the location of these new apartments would probably outweigh the "NOLA style" for the 23 year old single me. It would be nice to be right near the bars/restaurants of the WHD and near the Superdome/Smoothie King Center.
If he wants the Nola feel, then he should move Uptown IMO.

Yeah I looked at paramount, and you not getting in there and all that for $1500, nope. I wish...
The South Market district would be a great place to live as in the amenities close by and being centrally located.
All 3 restaurants in the SouthMarket building are all amazing and all totally different (Blaze, Willa Jean, Company Burger), hard to beat that trio of spots downstairs in your building, with the best Rouses across the street.
Paramount and Beacon

I get all that in my pre-civil war CBD pad.
But I do agree with you that uptown will have that nola vibe just as much if not much more so.
If OP is willing to find a roommate, there are plenty of places in the 2000 range in and around the CBD that give you convenience yet don't feel like you just moved into a college apartment.

Look for something around Nashville and fountainbleau. I used to live there and the neighborhood is good and you're close to everything. Can get anywhere worth being in the city very quickly

I'm assuming OP is on entry level salary so why not try to live cheap for a while and make an effort to find a roommate?

One of my baws lives near Finn's. He likes it.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but before looking for a place to live, get a pistol and learn how to shoot it. You might need it.

23, got a job and moving to NOLA. If you live uptown/WHD/CBD, are single, and make a decent paycheck...prepare to have the time of your damn life.
