Looking for information about the Pascagoula, MS area...

I have a possible job opportunity in Pascagoula, MS (Chevron) that would be great for my career, however I’m pretty skeptical about moving there.
Where would be the best place to live and commute from within an hour? I’m guessing either Biloxi, Ocean Spring or Mobile? I have a wife and 5 year old so I would definitely be looking for areas with the best schools.
Any information would be much appreciated. TIA.

Ocean Springs, Bay St. Louis is a little over an hour away.

Ocean Springs has affordable housing, good schools and about 15 minutes from Pascagoula. Nice downtown area with restaurants and live entertainment on weekends.

I lived in Ocean Springs for 18 months while working in Chevron. Not a bad town. Commute was terrible either.

I have worked there many times. I wouldn't live there. Stay around Biloxi or Gulfport and commute.

What will you be doing there?

Live in Fairhope/Daphne and commute in (I know the tunnel sucks but so does Pascagoula)

Lived there for about 4 months. It was terrible.

Thanks for all the info. Seems like OS is the favorite.

I am an OS resident. The schools are great and it's close enough to D'Iberville/Biloxi that your wife won't get pissy/bored about the lack of amenities. Anywhere near 57 gives you quick access to either 90 or I10 to reach Pascagoula. Check the area just south of the high school. You can't go further east than 57 or across the the bridge north on Washington. That becomes Gautier and St. Martin school districts, respectively.

depends what you want. If you want to live in a small area but still has a "city" feel a city feel with lots of HOAs, neighbors that love to mind your business etc then OS is the place and OS schools are good. If you want to get further out from the city then anywhere in the St Martin, Vancleave, or East Central area may be more of a fit. Further north you go the more "country" you will be in and the most you can spread and do what you want. Jackson County Schools are very good just make sure you are in St Martin, East Central or Vancleave schools zones(all same district Jackson County Schools) and avoid Moss Point schools with everything you have they are terrible. Pacagoula Gautier schools are actually a lot better than people think they have made huge improvements there with the big influx of Chevron money the last several years and the schools have improved with it. Be careful though to stay in Jackson County if you go to far north you will be in George County(lots of chevron guy live in George county its actually an easy commute down 63 or 613 and an adult living there is great but the schools have really fell off there since Katrina and the state is actually in there doing making some major changes bc they failed for to many years in row so you dont want your kid being a project for the state trying to figure how to fix things there.

So where are all the Ingalls folks living? I’m guessing they make up a lot of the blue collar neighborhoods in Pascagoula?

You a country baw? Plenty of places north of 10. Biloxi would be a drive. If I were driving that far, I would look towards Mobile.
ETA:
I worked between Moss Point and Biloxi for two years. I enjoyed it. I will say it is not for everyone. But if you have a high paying job, your quality of life will be great.

D'Iberville or something of 67 if you want to be close to everything but have an easy commute, Vancleave or Hurley if you want to be out in the sticks.
I would avoid OS as traffic is getting a bit much with no easy solution.
