Might be moving to New Orleans and I am OT poor so will more than likely have to go the public route.

I am very ignorant about the entire system out there, but it looks like Ben Franklin, Haynes Academy, Patrick F. Taylor, Lusher Charter, and Thomas Jefferson all have good rankings.

Franklin is obviously the best. How difficult is it to get in? Do you test in?

Are the other four actually good? How competitive are their admissions?

What are some good elementary and Middle schools of note in Orleans Parish?

Because his is sure to devolve into a race thread, let me just get this out of the way: yes, I am racist. Ok TYIA.

But seriously if your kid is smart enough Ben Franklin is the best. It wipes Jesuits arse. Only school better than BF is Newman. Also, check out Hynes. It's in lakeview and they keep out the riff raff which is good.

If you want your kid to be a liberal loser send them to public school. Go the private school route. Worth it.

Franklin is an amazing school. My SO went there and the level of post-HS accomplishment among her classmates is mindblowing. Of course most of them had to leave Louisiana to do it.

Giant killer is close. I went to private schools locally. I am lucky enough to have my kids test into the advanced study system.

If you cannot afford private school here, or test into the advanced system....don't come.

Franklin is selective admission...

I think the same thing for the other magnets...

Could you commute from the northshore?

If you want your kid to be an educated poor liberal entitled coke head send him to Franklin.

If you want your kid to be an educated middle class conservative coke head with his head up his arse send him to Newman.

If you want your kid to be an extremely successful alpha all around badass of a human being kicking the world's arse at every turn, send him to Jesuit.

If you want your kid to be middle management working for a Jesuit graduate send him to one of the other private schools.

None. Unless you want you kids to be flaming emo whiners. You might qualify for financial assistance at the Catholic schools.
