For whatever reason, ft leoanardwood MIZ to ft Lee VA. I remember we left MIZ fresh out of basic at 02, we stopped the chartered bus as a PX right after rollout. We all got a chaw and hit a golden corral in Chicago at 13. I remember thinking Chi town seems way out of the way. Made it to Lee 03 next morning, got settled in at 05, wake up 0530 lol. Later I learned we took an elongated route bc we stopped at several restaurants that agreed to give us massive discounts/ stay open late for us. Kudos to them.

LSU to the Grand Canyon, then hitched 5 hours to the north rim, (not sure if that counts) hiked/climbed rim-to-rim, drove home.

Corpus Christi to Homer Alaska. With side trips about 15000 miles. typically drove 300 miles per day for 60 day transit. Most expensive gas fill up was 420 $ in northern Canada. Motor home tank took 71 gallons gas at 6$ per gallon
