The Nevada State Museum had a old slot machine exhibit once showing machines from the 1900-1930 period. A few of them had swastika's as symbols on them - it is a long used symbol of luck in many cultures before being co-opted.

I don’t know if they’re still there, but in the mid 1980s, all the streetlights in Ketchikan, Alaska had swastikas all around their base.

Also, the US 45th Infantry Div., made up of National Guard units from the southwest, had this as its divisional patch until about 1940 or so.

Freaking white people

Meemaw has nothing else to do than bitch about a mountain name that she saw on the news and felt like she has to be the one to save us all from the oppressive name

To be fair, regardless of when it was named, it’s not a good look to have swastika mountain in your state.

The house I live in used to belong to my grandfather. He was a geologist, carpenter, surveyor, and used to work for Humble Oil Co, among others. He was also a pack rat. It’s been a slow process cleaning out the garage. It used to be his workshop. I enjoy cleaning in there, as I’ve run across several items that tell a story.

Among those were some old brass faucets and valves that had swastikas engraved. I did some research and confirmed that it was a sign for luck and prosperity. I decided to hang on to those.

The 81-year-old couldn't believe that a mountain could still bear that name in 2022.

I would play the odds and wait her out.

The swastika was a very sacred symbol for Indians in this region.

Honest to God this is the first I’ve ever heard of Indians using it. I know the Tibetans used it and that’s where the nazis got it from. But Indians? That’s a new one for me. The lady pushing for this is a lunatic.

Someone needs to tell these religions they're racist.
