Not so much a forgotten vehicle as a forgotten feature: column manual shifts. "Three on the tree".

step dad had one. It was geared so low that I would put it in 1st gear, sit up on the top with my 22LR and shoot snakes out of the ditch. Good ol times!!!

Never understood why the major automakers stopped selling small, lightweight pickups. I'd kill for a new version of one of these babies:
Here's my old ride from my AU days: the 1964 Plymouth Valiant sedan, complete with push-button automatic transmission:

Nah, my dude. that's an RX-7, this is a Z-car.
For a forgotten car, I present: the Mazda RX-3:
ETA: Rotary cars in general. We had an RX-4 wagon because my dad was convinced rotaries were the next big thing. Then apex seals. . . . c'est la vie.

I had a black 1982 king cab! That thing could go just about anywhere! I had radial mudders from Sears on it. I threw a come along behind the seat and along with a chain and if I did get it stuck it was easy to get out.

Wouldn't say it's forgotten, just don't see many too often.

That was my first vehicle. I got it at 14 years old for cutting a guys yard that was about 7 acres and was chest high. He had moved to Pennsylvania and paid me $200 and gave me that truck. That's how I learned to drive a stick.

Renault Dauphine.
Learned how to drive a standard shift transmission in one of these. J C Whitney used to dedicate a few pages in their catalog with replacement parts.
