Spending $13million per year on the cafeteria at Twitter HQ. On average only 10% or so employees ate in the cafeteria as most were never in the office. Does it make more sense now?
Yes. If you believe you’re above coming into work, nobody gets free lunch.

The perks of tech companies are fricking awesome. The only people that hate on them are those that have never and could never work at a tech company.

Most people here think free squenchers are the pinnacle of company freebies.

I work on Wall Street and can assure you I could work tech, but I wouldn’t, because I make much more in private equity. The only perks I care about are in relation to travel. I’m young but I am not childlike and I do not want ice cream and the dumb shite they keep millennials happy with at these Peter Pan campuses.

Yeah, you just expense every bottle you use to impress whatever piece of tail you are trying to let down that night.
It's all the same. Different strokes for different folks.
A finance bro without an expense account is just...lame.

So Twitter pre Elon was like that business Tom and Jean Ralfio ran in parks and Rec?
I will now call Twitter only by its formal name, Entertainment 720

Millennials? You’re about a decade behind. Gen Z is driving perk culture.

Honestly, I really don't give a frick how Elon runs his company. I like Musk and his ability to take on new projects to make them better. He is an interesting dude.. But I think it was Bill Parcel who said something along the lines of "just show me the baby". He didn't need to see how it was made, how it was born, he just wanted the end product.

TLDR, but playing devils advocate (and amassing downvotes) here, they were probably carrying the same weight as pre-COVID in which employees were working in office. At some point in time, breakfast and lunch ran around $25 per head per day, which was worthwhile to the company in order to get the extra 90 minutes a day out of each employee.
With the reduced workforce and remote workers pre-layoffs, the number was askew. The program needs to be cut. No one was really getting $400 meals, there was just serious waste.

I’m a hospital employed physician and I have to buy food in the cafeteria when I eat there. Screw these entitled tech worker pricks. I hope they learn how replaceable they are

Also, it’s hilarious that the same idiots who are fine with the poorest states in the nation pumping $100’s of millions of dollars into football facilities are pissed that tech workers can get an almond milk latte at the office

My brother runs a crew of programmers that are all in Eastern Europe. Tech workers can be anywhere there is an internet connection.
Paying the twitter average $186k per year for purple hairs in SF is fiscally irresponsible.
*I'm not a tech guy, so "crew" is probably the wrong term.

Probably afraid his company is going to follow Musk's lead.

What’s your main issue with Raytheon? Shouldn’t you be more concerned about the Politicians, like Cheney who made millions off the war machine?
Yeah, he’s the bigger issue, which is why I differentiated the private from the public sector. From the private sector they are the worst, although I should say that Black Rock is also worse than Twitter in the scumbags that work for them.

The difference between the Twitter employees and you is that they may have been basement dwelling losers too, but they made $187,000 a year…and that eats you the frick up lol

So are the perks of raping and pillaging. Some of us just have morals.

Given I have a mid-figure 100K salary as well in sales where it is fun and can be measured, nope. Not jealous. I also intentionally turned down a much higher paying job where I’d have to work 80 hours a week for this, so I understand where I stand. I live way more comfortably than a brat working at Twitter in SF making 187K.
