It's their own fault really, innocent civilians shouldn't get in the way of a police chase. The world needs protecting and serving, not people walking just for the joy of it.

Yes. Police should stop chasing after bad guys and that will solve the problem.

How about just getting a tag number and vehicle description? It's always baffled me cops speeding through congested areas, chasing what's usually not much of a threat to society, and most of this stems from the fricking war on drugs. "OMG, he might throw out his ounce of weed! Chase him!"

Unfortunate incident, but what can you change? Don't chase suspects/perpetrators?
The fleeing motorist was travelling at a high rate of speed and hit someone that turned left in front of him.
Be careful making left turns.

Witnesses said it appeared one of the vehicles was being pursued by police out of Livingston Parish. The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. and shut down the westbound lanes of Florida at North Stevendale Road (between O'Neal Lane and Old Hammond Highway). All lanes of Florida Boulevard were reopened early Wednesday morning. Units from the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office, Denham Springs Police Department, Baton Rouge Police Department, and the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office were all on scene. Tim Ferguson owns Encore House Lifters and was directly across the street when the crash happened. He described hearing a major impact and then sirens less than 10 seconds later. The trained paramedic said he asked police how he could help and was directed to the driver of one of the cars. "He had some facial trauma and some potential head trauma; he was non-responsive," Ferguson said. "I just stabilized his neck and took my medic kit over there to make sure we had an airway." He described the injuries as "moderate to severe." A woman from the other vehicle was taken to the hospital with a broken arm. Police have not yet released any official information regarding this crash.
