What one person does with their property is not the same as an out of town developer building a thousand homes next to your house, in the process raising the elevation of several hundred acres a few feet and covering it in cement

where's the water gonna go genius? It's not soaking into the driveways and new home foundations or in the flat yards with no trees sloped for drainage.

The water is going to travel with gravity until it can settle for several hours - in your yard/home

People say this but they usually have no idea what they're talking about.

I'd be shocked if theses Parishes and municipalities don't have drainage impact analysis/detention requirements to lower or keep runoff the same as predevelopment.

They can also implement no net fill requirements if people are that worried about building land up

You guys in the AP and the LP had your little run. Now it's time for St George to rise up and knock your dicks in the dirt.

Sounds like the OP is protesting the Methification of Livingston Parish where development is pushing out the trash.

And that median wall absolutely caused places East of DS to flood.

That all flooded from backup south of the interstate.

And like you said, 30 plus inches of rain.

The moratorium passed last night for 60 days with an option for 90 days

Not sure if that will be enough considering the current situation with the schools

Cecil Harris, the president of the school board, spoke last night and dropped the hammer with facts on the current stress on schools already.

Essentially, at this point, half the teachers in LP will be gone or retired in a few years with double the students and literally nowhere for the students to go because of the lack of room and no buses to get them there.

The only reason Baton Rouge doesn't have a bypass yet is because the local politicians don't see enough money to steal from the project.

They have to pay their brother n law for a few more studies.

He asked for more taxes. We already pay a combined 10.5%. They need to stop pissing away their tax revenue instead of asking for more.

But it’s so easy to just ask for more and so hard
To save!! That’s no fun.

This thread delivers

Can anyone tell me just how far east is LP being developed these days? I have to imagine subdivisions are even in Albany and satsuma now

My husband and my dad hunted on the property that is now being proposed for Deer Run Subdivision. I have been on that property myself, and I know that much of the land is extremely uneven (with shallow ravines) and swampy. In addition, it is less than a mile from the Amite River, which floods easily. It is absolute insanity to build a subdivision on this property, much less to expect homebuyers to purchase houses there. As for now, we will still have access to the remainder of the property lease for the coming year.
