How is it? Have small kids, and thinking of moving to Lacombe on the bayou? How would the commute be to NOLA? Is Mandeville better?

I live here and recommend it. My kids like the schools they attend. We have one little spot for nightlife that pretty much everyone gets along. The ride to Mandeville or New Orleans isn't
Bad at all.

Building a house there now. Definitely more rural and quieter than Mandeville. Pretty much in the middle of Slidell and Mandeville, and more land availability than Mandeville. Same schools for the kids.

I don't live in Lacombe but it would be a fine destination for a Georgian.

that place still around?? remember as kids always hearing about getting shot by shotguns with rock salt for trying to peep through the fence. remember riding by there all the time and seeing that roofing tin along the fence only imagining what must be going on in there

LOT of slow drivers there I frequently take 190/Gause between Mandeville and Slidell and always seem to get caught behind someone going 15-20mph under the limit.

But besides that, there's actually a handful of pretty good restaurants there. And it's an easy drive to Mandeville/Slidell for anything you can't get in Lacombe

As long as you aren't married to the fire chief it's a fine place to reside
