What age is considered too old to have a roommate? I'm 28 and thinking it's time to find my own place. What says the OT?

22 or so for my generation. 40-45 for the millennials.

Careful, in some states, you and your roommate are now considered to be in a domestic partnership. You guys should go to bed bath and beyond to make a registry.

You are approaching the age where silence is tGOAT and parties into the early morning tend to aggravate the shite out of you.

I have an SO, and spend a considerable amount of time at her place. However, I think it's best to have my own place until I know she's the one, baw.

Do what you want, when you want and how you want to do it.

Don't worry about what anyone else thinks. It's your life. And unless they are paying for your housing accommodations, they don't get to determine what is best for you.

But sooner or later, you are going to have to come out of the closet. Or in this case, your house or apartment.

I started living without roommates the second I left college. A few years later I let a guy stay with me after his divorce for a few months till he figured things out. He was a good friend, and a good guy, but I couldn't wait for him to get the hell out. It was miserable not having the privacy and comfort of your own place.

I don't get the idea of needing to live alone ever? If you have a wife, you have a room ate. I'm married almost 10 years fwiw.

But its expensive to live on your own, why not share basic things like cable? But if you have a dog, its a PITA to live on your own especially if you like to travel even for weekends.

Would I live in a 2 bedroom apt in my 40s? No. But nothing wrong with having a roomate in an otherwise normal living situation. Just have a place you can have space from each other, like 2 separate "living areas".

That was my initial thought. IMO the extra money id spend on rent etc. would be worth the peace and quiet.

got divorced at 30 and was making enough to get a place w/o a roomate. Had an awesome Fortress of Solitude bachelor pad for a good 7yrs before I married again. I miss it sometimes. Had a maid that came twice a week, never had to see her either. It was tGOAT.

THIS. I'm living alone now and have a dog. Doing anything that requires being away for an extended period of time requires an annoying amount of planning.

The roommate thing in college got old. As soon as I graduated and started working I moved and started living by myself. I'm 22. It gets boring at times but you don't have to worry about other people getting in the way
