Who lets 9 year olds play with 12 year olds anyway? This league is either fake or really screwed up.
Yea, good catch there. Did not even notice that.
Um, nope. Not a good catch. Ignorant catch.
LITTLE LEAGUE DIVISIONS...."The Little League Baseball Division (also known as the Major Division) is for boys and girls ages 9-12"

I began volunteering with this team last season. I am the assistant coach technically speaking, however a friend of mine is the head coach but doesn’t know jack about baseball. He is of the mentality it doesn’t matter as long as the kids are having fun. With that being said the team only won 1 game last season. This team is made up of a bunch of undersized 9-12 year olds that are required to play station to station baseball. Yesterday he called me and told me he was going to miss the game because he was sick. It was the first scrimmage game of the season against one of the better teams in the league. Immediately upon watching infield/outfield I noticed a weakness. As with most kids that age the catcher’s ability to throw out runners is questionable at best. Once the game started every time I got a runner on base I called in the steal and we were successful 15/15 times. The opposing coach was yelling at me from the other dugout the entire game calling my way of playing “cowardly.” They had to use 5 different pitchers throughout the 5 innings and the catcher ended up quitting in the middle of the game. The kid’s father was cursing me out from the bleachers. Anyways, we ended up ten run ruling one of the better teams in the league and all my players got a piece of the action. After the game we went to Peter Piper Pizza and the kids thought I was Joe Torre or something. While we are there I get a call from the league president saying I am banned from the league for embarrassing another team by stealing bases up by 10 runs, continuing to take pitches on 3-0 counts up by ten runs, and continuing to hit and run when up by ten runs. I think that is complete B.S. because I am teaching these kids how to win baseball games. It doesn’t matter what your opponent feels you need to put the gas pedal down and finish. It was also a scrimmage game so it is pointless to let up on your opponent when you are trying to prepare for the season ahead and work out any kinks. Needless to say I will not be back which doesn’t bother me because I was only a volunteer and didn’t have a child on the team. So OT was I in the right or wrong?
Right or wrong, you's a boss. And the kids under you will hopefully learn a thing or two about competition, winning, and not growing up bitch-made.

You're right. In a game with kids that age you can be up 8-0 and find yourself down 10-8 the next inning. Beta moves like that are the reason I rather play travel ball.

I'm only on page 2 but I see a wannabe adult taking advantage of kids. Let the kids win it dickhead. I played ball all my life and in my mid 50's I remember the dick heads like you. I saw one in the obituaries about 6 months ago on a Sunday morning from a car wreck. I sipped my coffee, looked at my wife and said "frick that piece of shite. Too bad it wasn't a bus."

It's an odd thing, seeing an adult talk about "teaching a kid a lesson" like the kid has wronged him in some way. OP is an insecure imbecile, and he needs to "teach this kid a lesson" and get praise from 10 year old children to feel good about himself.

What I don't understand is if the other team's catcher was struggling that bad (enough to up and quit should have been obvious) why didn't his coach replace him? A scrimmage game would be a perfect place to work on developing another catcher. When I coached I used to see people put one of their less athletic kids at catcher. I never understood this. It's demanding and defensively a very important position. To me the outfield is a better place to stick these kids and not get them overwhelmed and discouraged. I do not agree with stealing and hnr up 10 runs late.

I admire your ruthless approach nearly as much as I admire your mullet and your jetski.

Would you change your mind if I told you the team he crushed was all black and his was all white?

The OP made me lol. Beautiful man.

But for real. I hope he's a tiger. But what if it was saban running up the score on us throwing and passing with his first string in fourth quarter up by 40

Damn.... taking holding a grudge to a entire new planet!

Since you did not have a child on the team... You are in the wrong.

No I was saying the kids have to play station to station baseball to be successful not that the league is that way. The league is normal rules. It's little League the age range is 10-12 some kids are almost 13 though and some are 9. As I explained before you can be "drafted" at 9 and skip the minors and go to majors
Dude, your eyes must be brown from all the BS. Just check wikipedia for the rule. Or heck, watch the LL World Series on TV. Standard LL (ie: majors - ages 9-12) doesn't allow leads. So, for one thing, there is no way your pitcher could pick off their base runners because they couldn't leave the bag until the ball reached the batters. For another, if a catcher can't throw out the runner when the runner couldn't leave till the ball pretty much got to the catcher, something is seriously wrong. Doesn't sound like one of the best teams in the league to me (speaking of which, how could you know they were one of the best teams in the league if you are only doing scrimmages right now).
It is not until "juniors", an older age that you can take leads in LL. Or now, the new "intermediate" age which doesn't start till 11 year olds according to wiki.
From wiki:
quote:
Base running[edit]
When the pitcher is ready to pitch, a baserunner may not leave the bag until the pitch reaches the batter in Minor League and standard Little League. In the upper levels, including Intermediate Little League, the runner can leave the bag at any time while the ball is in play.
